As Los Angeles firefighters continue to battle deadly wildfires, authorities were forced to confront wild conspiracies - including a claim that firefighters are using 'women's handbags' to douse the flames.
Disgraced Sandy Hook truther Alex Jones made the assertion on Thursday, sharing video of fire crews carrying bags filled with water. He claimed the department needed to use the 'women's handbags' because it sent supplies over to war-torn Ukraine.
But LA Fire Department Chief Erik Scott, a public information officer, has since explained to the Wall Street Journal that the so-called handbags were actually canvas bags fire departments regularly use to put out small fires, as they are easier and faster than having to connect hoses.

In Third World countries, you have to use whatever comes to hand. We shouldn’t look down on primitive cultures — I’m sure they are doing the best they can.

Especially when the hydrants haven’t worked for months or years.
Women’s handbags are huge these days. You probably could fit a bunch of firefighting equipment in them.
Apparently they weren’t ‘technically’ ladies’ handbags:
On Jan. 9, 2025, as wildfires continued to cause devastation in Los Angeles County, a video (archived) circulated on social media alongside claims that firefighters were battling blazes using women’s handbags.
In the footage, crew members from the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) could be seen putting out a trash fire using black and tan bags containing water drawn from a fire engine. These objects were identified by social media users as “women’s handbags” or “purses” in popular posts (archived).
One X user wrote (archived): “I promise you can’t make this up! The Los Angeles Fire Department is using women’s handbags to gather water in their fight against the blaze. What is going on?
On the equipment used, the LAFD wrote: “Our firefighters are resilient and will continually adapt to various situations. They are using collapsible water buckets to put out this trash bin fire, not bags.”
The footage in question is genuine and appeared in a compilation of firefighter footage published on Facebook by ONSCENE.TV on Jan. 7. That website collates footage from photojournalists in several states, including California, to sell to news outlets. Nathan Holguin, the journalist who recorded the footage, said he was covering one of the major fires — the Palisades Fire west of Los Angeles — near a strip mall on Palisades Drive on Jan. 7 when he saw firefighters putting out the trash fire. Holguin identified the equipment firefighters were using as collapsible buckets.

4. Deflect. Climate change, dog ate my homework, anything but blame Newsome and Bass and their lesbian LAFD for incompetence.
Because of all the wild fires, you would think California would have the best fire fighting equipment in the world. You would think.
You can’t expect trans and gay firefighters to appear in public without stylish outfits.
One would think that the CA. National Guard would be prepared to jump right in if need be, with firefighting equipment.

It was really funny.
