California Gov. Gavin Newsom passed the blame on to “local folks” when grilled over fire hydrants running out of water during the raging Pacific Palisades fire — and said he couldn’t even respond to President-elect Donald Trump’s accusations that he mismanaged the state’s water supply.

Newsom, in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, said local officials need to figure out why the hydrants in Los Angeles ran dry and left firefighters helpless as countless homes burned down in the ritzy neighborhood overnight into Wednesday.

“Look, the local folks are trying to figure that out,” he told Cooper, who asked about the hydrant situation.

“I mean when you have a system — but it’s not dissimilar from what we’ve seen in other extraordinarily large-scale fires, whether it be pipe, electricity, or whether it just be the complete overwhelm of the system,” Newsom rambled on.

Today da may6or claimed there was plenty of water in the hydrants for regular fires but these fires are too big and the big bad winds are also to blame...

Hadn’t heard that. Would not surprise me. Maybe some locals can jump in here. I’ll email relatives and see if they know anything about it.

Why all the obsession with the California wild fires?

Its not like its a “natural” disaster. Its MAN MADE by omission, all the things they DIDN”T DO to prevent/minimize their impact.

It would be like not cleaning your chimney and freaking out over a chimney fire that burned your house down.

CLEAR THE UNDERBRUSH. BUILD FIRE ROADS. BUILD FIRE BREAKS (Log portions of land to create them). MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WATER AT ALL FIRE HYDRANTS.

But we can’t afford it! Why are you building the $310 billion high-speed rail project? And all the other Liberal NONSENSE you WASTE all your money on.

Fighting wildfires without these things being done is a JOKE! Risking lives, equipment, planes helicopters, chemicals by the planeload.

Don’t “FEEL” sorry for the rich people who lost their homes. What did they do to PREVENT this? VOTE DEMOCRAT? Yep.

California administers itself like a Dutch colony in Indonesia five centuries ago. They feel they are off the beaten path and created a bloated high-tax business-burdensome state-within-a-state. The citizenry thinks this gives them more ‘freedom’ and autonomy but it actually makes the chains of authority even heavier.

If one wants to understand the fall of Rome especially when it was burning as people pilfered and plundered, this is a great one. It is very sad.

Given the reports on the high number of illegal aliens and tweakers stealing fire hydrants and shipping them off to Venezuela, Guatemala and TJ I'm kind of surprised that there are all that many hydrants left to run out of water.

In fact, I'm kind of wondering how much of LA fire hydrant failures are due to the wide spread theft and vandalism of the fire fighting infrastructure.Z

What were once semi humorous sarcastic commentary on the rampant theft and vandalism in LA that has reached such epic proportions that even the fire hydrants are being stolen and shipped abroad are now kind of tragic commentary on the destruction of LA.

They absolutely were stolen for scrap.

Just type "la fire hydrants stolen for scrap" into your browser (hopefully not goo...le) and you'll find several articles.

Would like to hear the alleged fire chief, mayor, and governor's definition of emergency planning, preparedness, and response.

Dems.

Deceit is their middle name.

Rich people are pissed. There will be political repercussions. Because the donor class (people rich enough to bankroll political canpaigns) has been hurt. It won’t happen immediately but it will happen.

California vectored towards the abyss in 1974 when they elected Jerry ‘Moonbeam’ Brown as Governor, ushering in half a century of liberal political mismanagement and malfeasance, using lefty slogans about the environment to tighten the noose. The place is now an expensive regulation top-heavy high-tax pseudo proletariat paradise wading in its own societal excrement, unable to fix its own problems.
