Dershowitz Predicts Supreme Court ‘Liberals’ Will ‘Go Along’ With Halting Lawfare Against Trump
Daily Caller via MSN ^ | Jan 7, 2025 | Harold Hutchison

Attorney Alan Dershowitz on Tuesday predicted that some of the “liberals” on the U.S. Supreme Court might join a ruling halting legal cases against President-elect Donald Trump.

A New York appeals court on Tuesday denied Trump’s request to cancel his Jan. 10 sentencing hearing. Dershowitz predicted that concerns about “fairness and due process” in Trump’s trial would lead the more liberal justices on the Supreme Court to eventually join a ruling in Trump’s favor.

“He probably didn’t even make the decision,” Dershowitz said about how the payments to former Trump attorney Michael Cohen were described. “The decision was made by some underling to simply list it as [a] legal expense. He didn’t deduct it. He just listed it. I think there was a chart, a fall-down thing where you can pick one or two [or] three or four, and one of them was legal experts. It was checked. It’s not a crime. That’s just not a crime. Again, Thomas Jefferson [said] for something to be a crime [that] the statute has to be so clear that a reasonable person could understand it if he reads it, while running.”

Dersh is living in a fantasy world, the NY libs did not step up, do not expect the SCOTUS to have integrity.

NOTICE: A lot of freepers bitch about linking to MSN, however at least you can get to the article without being overwhelmed by popups. And in several cases you can get around paywalls using MSN. So I try to pick the most palatable option.

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if the vote was 9-0 in DJT’s favor!

I wonder if that means that Trump could sue all who have gone after him?

It’s the type of thing Roberts might use to try to show the court as “unbiased” towards Trump going into the Inauguration.

Yes they will. They don’t care what the USSC says. AOC says they are an illegitimate court. No examples have been made whatsoever over failure to comply with the USSC and its rulings.

9-0 in DJT’s favor

I think a good chance. If you are at the top of your profession as these Justices are do you want your “business” to be built on cases such as this? Bending the law, using never used laws established for totally different reasons, revising established statue of limitations. Hopefully they think more of their profession and the rule of law.

Dersh is not all that serious these days.

He likely holds the position, along with Traitor Roberts, that there are no 0bama nor Bush Judges....

I suppose he could. But there’s not a snowball’s chance in Hell that a Manhattan jury would rule in his favor. IIRC New York County (which is the Borough of Manhattan) went something like 80-15 in Heels Up Harris’ favor in November. It seems to me that Bragg could be disbarred...but that doesn’t seem likely either.

I heard the case was referred to the Wise Latina for a decision.

Just FYI...a few years ago there was a 2nd Amendment case called "Caetano v Massachusetts". Caetano was convicted in a Massachusetts court of violating one of the state's million gun laws. She appealed, arguing that the law violated 2nd Amendment rights. Every state court ruled to uphold the conviction, rejecting her 2nd Amendment claim.

The case made it all the way up to SCOTUS which ruled,9-0,in Caetano's favor. In the opinion SCOTUS said that the logic that the state Supreme Court's ruling that the law didn't violate 2nd Amendment rights was "frivolous".

So SCOTUS does,on occasion, rule in unexpected ways. Imagine the 4 or 5 liberals on the court upholding the 2nd Amendment!!!!

Nope. Usually, Dersh is on the money about these things, but he’s blind as a bat if he thinks the 3 liberals (and maybe Roberts) will rule for Trump. Stevie Wonder can see this one more clearly.

Dunno... I do think Dersh & Turley’s opinions matter to them.

Not a chance. Kagan has principles, on rare occasion, such as when she joined the approval for the "ministerial exception" to allow religious groups to fire LGBT employees.

But Jumanji Brown and Sotomayor are Marxist court jesters, who don't care a whit for the rule of law, and will go along with any and all lawfare, so long as the "other team" is injured by it.

Larry, Moe, and Curly: Kagan, Sotomayor, and Jackson. All a disgrace to the court.
