From the Pacific Palisades to Pasadena, the beachside Eden on Earth of Los Angeles County is burning to the ground. In less than one day, more than 80,000 Californians have been evacuated, multiple injured, and at least two dead. With more than 4,000 acres of some of the nation’s most valuable property up in flames, the Southern California wildfires could prove one of the most deadly disasters in American history.
But the tragedy is no natural disaster, act of God, or shock from the sky. It’s rather an obvious and unavoidable product of failed government policy, beginning with Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) on down.
Fueling these fires are the Santa Ana winds, which exacerbate the state’s already ultra-arid environment. But neither the winds nor California’s dry climate are anything new. But unlike centuries of Indigenous Californians who subverted the state’s dry air by enacting controlled burns over more than 4 million acres of land, Newsom has let tinder and debris build up within the state. In 2019, Cal Fire enacted controlled burns over just 64,000 acres, and in 2020, a mere 32,000 — metrics that Newsom lied about and inflated by 690%.
The state’s cyclical crisis of fiery climates and energy crises is no coincidence. Instead, it’s the direct result of calculated decisions made by its ruling class, primarily executed by the Democrats who have dominated California politics for decades.
Now that the inevitable chicken has come home to roost, state policy continues to fail the firefighters charged with putting out the conflagration. California has not constructed a new major reservoir since 1979, meaning that even though local reservoirs were reportedly at capacity before the Palisades fire, dozens of fire hydrants in the coastal...

If they took 0.1% of the $$$ and effort that they put into ‘climate modeling’ and redirected it to common-sense fire control measures, the effects would be mitigated bigly.
The most accurate “climate model” of all is the solar cycle, with an accuracy of 93%.
Can’t use that one, though, because it doesn’t give us the answer we want.
It started long before Newscum.
Pretty hard to blame solar cycles on Trump and his racist, sexist, science denying supporters.
All the wailing & breast-beating about the impacts on expensive homes in CA when the poor folks in NC are still ignored and shrugged off by our communist masters...
IMHO, most fires in CA are self-inflicted through arson or state government policies...
Bon! We’re all waiting to hear from you! Please check in!
Newsome is Trump proofing California.
No worries California. If he decides not to run for Prez, you will re-elect him for another disastrous term.
Yes, and what are Californians supposed to do about it? Vote for a conservative Republican? Perish the thought!
With the wind it is impossible to contain it…cutting under brush is to keep the fire from getting in the tree tops…once in the tree tops the ambers fly all over…
There is a company that will clear the underbrush and small trees and they turn it into wood pellets to generate electricity….they ship most of the pellets to England…there in the Southeast…

There are now fires in front of me, to the side and a new one behind me! We are OK right now where we are - we had 85 mph winds last night, we've never seen this in 32 years of living here.
My yards look like a garbage dump - so there will be lots of clean -up but will wait for the winds to die down. Just heard that the fire in Pacific Palisades is still out of control and growing.
This is near the house, in the local Ralphs parking lot - the sun is no longer out.
Ping! I found Bon! She’s OK for now!
Like the push to move bicycles into vehicular traffic, democrats are generally reckless and irresponsible.
That looks more scary than any Thunderstorm/Tornado activity I’ve ever seen! Yikes!
At least a good thunderstorm would clear out the air! The wind is swirling up the ashes and particulates - which are at record levels. We are being advised to stay indoors b/c of the bad air (as if our air isn’t already bad enough!).
Will report back later.
