DALLAS - Former president George W. Bush was one of many leaders who shared heartfelt statements about Jimmy Carter after his death on Sunday.
Carter, the former humanitarian, philanthropist and 39th president of the United States, passed away at the age of 100.
Bush, the 43rd president of the US, released a statement through his presidential center.
"Laura and I send our heartfelt condolences to Jack, Chip, Jeff, Amy, and the entire Carter family.
"James Earl Carter, Jr., was a man of deeply held convictions. He was loyal to his family, his community, and his country. President Carter dignified the office. And his efforts to leave behind a better world didn’t end with the presidency. His work with Habitat for Humanity and the Carter Center set an example of service that will inspire Americans for generations.
"We join our fellow citizens in giving thanks for Jimmy Carter and in prayer for his family."

Where’s the “Barf Alert”?
Has Bush mentioned Trump yet?
Lessee. LBJ, Nixon, Carter, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, Obama, Biden. Some of the biggest scumbags to ever walk the earth.
the gas lines I waited in because of carter’s incompetence were ANYTHING but dignified. SO SO tired of liberals on BOTH sides of the political aisle telling ME who is and isn’t “dignified”.
You left out jfk
Bush is such a Democrat.
They don’t have a very good memory. Created the Iran we now are dealing with. Gas lines so long we went on rationing every other day depending on your license #. Hostages being held 444 days. Being told to put on a sweater to stay warm. A president who refused to leave the WH.
“We join our fellow citizens in giving thanks for Jimmy Carter”
What a load of BS. The 4 years of Carter were misery.
Let’s not give Dubya any ideas now.
Carter was a nice man, but not fit to be president.
Nice guys finish last, and anyone or anything that gets close, also finishes last. Carter brought down the country. But, he was personally still a nice guy, but probably only nice as a neighbor.
“Has Bush mentioned Trump yet?”
No and W can go f himself
“He was loyal to his family, his community, and his country”
he was not loyal to his country. Many of his actions in office and out led to todays level of terrorism.
Carter’s biggest accomplishment....He gave away the Panama Canal...
He certainly didn’t defile the office like Billy Bob and The Big Guy did...but he was horrible President, and an even worse former President.
Ahhhh! The "Carter Center"! Conferring legitimacy after stolen elections in central & south America since 1981.
Carter mocked the office and mocked Americans.
“he was not loyal to his country.”
Exactly. Carter was FAR more loyal to muslims.
“Bush is such a Democrat.”
He always was. Like his CIA spook father he ran as a Republican to fool us and render the GOP as nothing more than controlled opposition.
Bush sure didn’t have to step in this Sheit
he’s left a bad enough legacy of his own
