Per the airline, it "experienced a suspected landing gear issue". The good news is that for once it wasn't Boeing; it was de Havilland, which used to be owned by Boeing but has since been sold to Bombardier.
~As you'll have noticed, the world's most uniquely unique peaceful transition of power turned suddenly violent over Christmas with various of America's super-brainy Indians beating up on each other: Nikki Haley, the Boeing board's token Sikh, lit up Hindu monotheist Vivek Ramaswamy's tweet like Air Canada overhead baggage in objection to Vivek's remarks on US "mediocrity". The offending Ramaswamy tweet was in response to MAGA objections to Trump's appointment of Madras techie and open-borders fanatic Sriram Krishnan as his AI advisor. This was a very 2025 brouhaha: while you knuckle-draggers down in flyover country were arguing about sub-minimum-wage Hispanics turning down the sheets at Motel Six, the Hindu billionaires have been busy taking over the country.
Is everyone in this all-American punch-up an Indian? Well, no, eventually a South African weighed in. The Boers don't like the Hindus, do they? I think I got that from Gandhi. Ah, but in this case Elon agrees with Sriram and Vivek.

Just when I thought Iwas finished, it looks as though I’ll need to brush up on my history and comparative religion studies.
Mediocrity is not unique to USA. It has infected the entire world. Just book air travel in any city, or ask an engineering graduate what is the formula for horse power.
Mark Steyn has turned pretty bitter as of late.
He has good reason to be so, but it isn’t the best work he has done.
I posted last night a story about how Indians are living six in a one bedroom apartment impersonating a green card holder or US citizen to receive 30 percent of pay with 70 going to those that organize.
Instead of Musk calling us retarded and racist he should pay attention to the massive fraud taking place.
The 30 percent they get is still more than they could make in India. I am sure some of them have worse living conditions at home than 6 to an apartment
He harps on the same themes over and over, tiresomely so.
And the author is a Canadian. ....Truth be told when I look at the populations of the world, there are two poised to dominate this century. Those in Africa and in India. I prefer India.
As far as the rest of the world, they are voluntarily going extinct. The future belongs to those who show up for it (i.e. have children).
I was on the remote work sub on Reddit and people were asking for remote jobs as personal assistants for $3 an hour. I asked “Why $3?” and they said it was considered a good wage in most of India.
Indians believe that they can get hired in the US with any degree and still get paid enough to live. They also heavily believe in “Imposter Syndrome” so much that they focus heavily on saving as much money as possible to take back to India. $10k is a lot of money there.
I am an engineering graduate but I have to admit I have forgotten that one.

Before we vent out of hurt feelings, consider:
1. Musk isn’t claiming that there is no fraud in H1B, and he supports closing our border. He’ll no doubt be satisfied if H1B is scaled back to admit only the best and brightest.
2. OK, Musk showed us the danger of having an attack of big mouth. But Trump wouldn’t be in office if Musk hadn’t sacrificed much of his personal fortune helping him. That’s more than rhetorically pure Bannon accomplished by needlessly grandstanding his way into jail.
People can’t find this pre Meltdown
“Easily fixed by raising the minimum salary significantly and adding a yearly cost for maintaining the H1B, making it materially more expensive to hire from overseas than domestically.
I’ve been very clear that the program is broken and needs major reform.”
They also can’t find where he claims H1b should only be for the top .01 percent. Pre- Meltdown before he had to backtrack.
Makes me wonder.
A friend of mine in Florida used to work part-time for the FBI investigating counterfeit aircraft parts. He told me it's amazing what one man in a machine shop can make. I think a lot of times they get the shape right but the metals used are not up to par for aircraft parts.
Not just airplane parts. All parts.
A lot of odd failures over the years end up being counterfeit parts into the supply chain. Sometimes the OEM supply chain.
“”” Why does it need to hire entry-level workers from the first and second largest nations? Yes, yes, too many Americans graduate in non-binary studies rather than any serious academic discipline but simply because you’ve bollocksed up your entire education system is no reason to (as my former National Review colleague John Derbyshire puts it) “import an overclass”.””””
I agree with Steyn. Our USA education system has created poorly educated masses where the students think that taking easy classes in like Underwater Basket Weaving will make them capable of performing for the rest of their working lives.
I read a short story someone had written on-line years ago. I went back & tried to find it, but never could. It was about learning, & made me realize that all through my education thru the 12th grade, no one really tried to impress on me that I was in school for MY benefit. And the effort I applied was what was important. Instead, it seemed that the curriculum was just something we all had to get past, in the quickest/easiest way possible.
It seems like that is what universities have become, too. Just a place where you can get some degree for some ridiculous study, just so you can have letters behind your name. Our education system really has gone to pot.
you are excused because you are probably a senior.
I asked simple questions like that to young job applicants, and many had no clue. Some did not even know definitions of Sine & Cosine.
It is 550 ft-lbs/second = 1 horse power
EE here, 746 W = 1 hp
Now THAT is truly frightening!
How about Watts to BTUs to tons of AC?! I used town that one too....
