"For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity," Trump posted to Truth Social.
President-elect Donald Trump and Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede are at odds over whether the United States can purchase the Danish territory, after Trump proposed the idea on Sunday night.
Trump, who during his first term proposed expanding the U.S by purchasing Greenland, expressed renewed interest in the potential sale when announcing Ken Howery as U.S. ambassador to Denmark, which owns the northern territory.
"For purposes of National Security and Freedom throughout the World, the United States of America feels that the ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. "Ken will do a wonderful job in representing the interests of the United States."
Howery served as U.S. ambassador to Sweden during the former president's first term, and is a co-founder of PayPal.
Egede responded to the comment in a post on Facebook on Monday, informing Trump that Greenland is not "and will never be for sale."
"Greenland is ours," Egede insisted. "We are not for sale and will never be for sale. We must not lose our year-long struggle for freedom. However, we must continue to be open to cooperation and trade with the whole world, especially with our neighbours."
The United States Space Force has a post on the northwest coast of Greenland, the Pituffik Space Base, formerly Thule Air Base. It is the U.S. Armed Forces' northernmost installation.

We have not had any significant territorial expansion since the purchase of Alaska.
Greenland, Canada, Cuba....go for a trifecta!
Didn’t they buy Alaska from Russia and Louisiana from France?
Greenland is like some shapely young lady that all the playboys want, but she refuses to date any of them, at least for now. She repeatedly states she is not ‘that kind of a girl!’
Would this help at all with the deficit?
offer the 56,000 citizens $1 million each, if Greenland sells to the US.
Allow the populated areas to form jurisdictions and offer them permanent rights.
Denmark already pays $511 million to upkeep Greenland each year. If the people of Greenland voted to sell to the US, I don’t think Denmark would be hard to negotiate with.
Find out what else they want. Make it happen.
Just take it.
We can if the two governments agree.
The Space Force should immediately deploy Jewish Space Lasers™ to take out this ingrate "Prime Minister" Múte Egede and seize the island forthwith.
That is $56 billion total. The Chinese way is to offer the leadership a small fraction of that to gain control. They probably gave Bill Clinton and Joe Biden less than $10 million each.
“offer the 56,000 citizens $1 million each, if Greenland sells to the US.” ($56 Billion)
“Denmark already pays $511 million to upkeep Greenland each year.” Denmark’s national debt is about $143 Billion.
So about $200 Billion would be a very sweet deal for them all, and US investment would open a lot more opportunity.
Write off the Panama Canal and just make a canal across Greenland to show Panama we don’t need them.
This is supposed to be a Happy occasion. Let’s not bicker and argue about who can purchase who.

Yuge… tracts of land
Build a wide canal from Baja California to the Gulf. It becomes our border, doubles as a moat and screws Panama in the process. Toss in a some gators for added security. We can seize the cartel money to pay for it.
“ What’s not to like???”
