Hi Everybody!

Howdy, Kathy.
It was a little colder today but not as windy as yesterday. Just a little breeze that has now stopped. One more cold day to go before we warm decently for all of next week.
It sounded pretty windy on the Lake Hood cam’s mic. I reckon it took the fun out of going to the office today.
Were the garn checks there?

The night before Jesus was betrayed, He commanded His followers to “love one another” (John 13:34) as He had loved them. Such sacrificial and unconditional love would be the irrefutable proof that they were truly His disciples (v. 35). The author of 1 John (traditionally believed to be the same John who wrote the fourth gospel), says that Christ’s disciples must “live as Jesus did” (2:6)—living a life of loving God and loving others. John reminds us that “God is love” and we must “rely on the love God has for us” (4:16). Reminiscent of the language of John 3:16, the author reminds us that God loves us in this way: “He sent his one and only Son into the world . . . as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:9-10). “He has given us of his Spirit” to help us live and love (v. 13).
As I sat next to my friend Margaret, who was lying in her hospital bed, I took in the bustle and activity of the other patients, medical staff, and visitors. A young woman sitting nearby with her ailing mother asked Margaret, “Who are all the people who keep visiting you?” She responded, “They’re members of my church family!” The young woman remarked that she’d never seen anything like it; she felt as if the many visitors were “like tangible love poured out.” Margaret replied, smiling, “It all comes down to our love of God through His Son Jesus Christ!”
In her response, Margaret echoed the disciple John, who in his final years wrote three letters brimming with love. In his first letter, he said, “God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them” (1 John 4:16). That is, those who acknowledge “that Jesus is the Son of God” (v. 15) have God living in them through “his Spirit” (v. 13). How can we lovingly care for others? “We love because he first loved us” (v. 19).
Because of the gift of God’s love, visiting Margaret hadn’t felt like a hardship to me or others in our church. I received more than I gave, not only from Margaret, but through observing her gentle witness about her Savior, Jesus. How might God love others through you today?
When have you been surprised by someone noticing God’s love in your life? How does His love spur you on to serve others?
Loving God, I love because You first loved me. Please keep increasing my love so Your Spirit will shine through me.

Garn checks were there, processed, and delivered to the post office downstairs. Really happy about that!
But, man, am I glad to be home! What a MESS! Heavy traffic getting to the mall (I went a bit early hoping for a first row parking spot...successful) and then dodging all the drivers and shoppers going in. Backed up cars everywhere. I had to wait thru 3 left turn cycles to finally turn onto Old Seward at the mall. Inside was swarming with shoppers. Then trying to get thru the parking lot to the post office at the other end was a nightmare of cars trying to find parking spaces and pulling out of lanes without looking, or going the wrong way in lanes. Several close calls. Me and my car are going NOWHERE til next weekend. Went the long way around to get out of the parking lot after the PO. Turning left anywhere was impossible.
Thankfully my neighborhood corners had been sanded so I got out without any slipping and sliding. And the temps made it up to just above freezing so the main roads weren’t bad at all...just LOTS of cars!!!
Hey there, radu!
Hope you had a great day today and that if you had to get out, it wasn’t awful weather there.
Good evening, Mayor, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
And thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
You visiting or receiving family for Christmas? Hope there is no more snow. STAY WARM!!!
Why would NASA have packed 50 years of food, water and air on his space ship if he was going to be in suspended animation for the length of the mission? You've got to think about these things when unplugging stuff.
Sounds like you had a buncha fun today ..... NOT! At least you survived in intact, if a might frazzled. The office being in the mall makes it tough this time of year. Aren’t you glad you don’t have to go in 5 days a week any more?!!
Glad to hear the garn checks were there so you could get them mailed.
You made it above freezing today? Heat wave! LOL Definitely warmer than earlier this week. It was bitter cold.
I made a Wal Mart run this evening around suppertime. Hated to go there but cat food and litter are cheaper there. Got that and other stuff and now, like you, I’m in for a while. Traffic was pretty bad and the store was crowded but not nearly as bad as earlier in the day BECAUSE it was suppertime. I miss it being open 24 hours and shopping at 1 or 2 in the morning.
We peaked at 36 for a short time when the sun finally came out. It was cloudy when I woke up and 33 degrees. The sun didn’t help much. LOL
Howdy, luvie.
It was a day. Cold but not windy. I did head to the store at suppertime when it wasn’t TOO busy and now I’m set to stay in to avoid the madness. LOL
One more cold day, then we warm up for next week.
When are y’all heading out to visit the kids?
And a blessed Fourth Sunday of Advent (Western)/Sunday of the Genealogy (New Calendar Orthodox) .
