The Select Board of Natick, Massachusetts on Wednesday approved a new immigration policy preventing employees from enforcing immigration rules.
Unless permitted by federal or state laws, town employees cannot “inquire or collect any information regarding the citizenship or immigration status of any individual.” Employees also may not detain a person solely because they are suspected of being in the country illegally.
“No employee of the Town shall perform the functions of an immigration officer, nor shall the Town use Town funds, resources, facilities, property, equipment or personnel to directly assist in the enforcement of federal civil immigration laws,” an excerpt of the policy reads.
An exception in the policy allows police officers to still serve warrants, subpoenas and detainers.
The policy sparked fierce debate and widespread outrage in Natick. Select Chair Kathryn Coughlin’s vehicle was reportedly spray painted with “deport illegals,” according to CBS Boston.
“I am under the impression that it probably wasn't even a Natick person," Coughlin told the outlet.
Others expressed outrage over the new policy on the town’s Facebook page.
“Yes or no, does any insane news coming out of liberal Massachusetts surprise you anymore?” one asked.
“The tax payers should get used to budget shortfalls And increased taxes in Natick especially now that they voted 5-0 to adopt sanctuary city rules,” another added.
The decision follows the nearby Boston City Council’s unanimous decision to uphold the city’s sanctuary status ahead of President-elect Donald Trump’s return to the White House. The council approved a resolution reaffirming the city’s commitment to the Trust Act, which prevents the Boston Police Department’s involvement in civil immigration detainment.

Send all arrested detainees to Natick. Put the holding area in the town square. Deport from there. F Taxacussetts.
Arrest those that obstruct, aid or abet.
Illegal order.
They are continuing to poke the bear.
Natick has a sizable town square. It would make a lovely tent city.
Not a problem. Simply cease all federal payments to that town and the people therein (e.g., welfare, food stamps, educational and highway subsidies, rent subsidies and other transfer payments, etc.) Defiance of Federal policies should come with consequences.
Have they just decided illegal immigration is no longer illegal? Who do they think they are hurting by doing this?
PING
It will be anonymous because if I was identified I know that our bull dyke whore Governor and the Maoist AG would make sure that I was charged with some kind of crime.
They are hurting Americans and that’s the point. Do you understand how much they hate you?
Massachusetts should be purged from the union. It is already not America
Note to the lackeys: Guess who will be left holding the bag.
I am a lifelong MA resident and I can say with confidence that the USA would indeed be better off if MA were expelled from the union.
Sounds like they want to return to the mid 1860s. A war was
fought back in the day to free slaves in the southern states.
I was born about 80 yrs later and it was still a rule in some
parts of the country although not legal.
We have 50 MAGA red states.
With 50 Deep State legislatures.
There’s still slavery in the US.
We’re all indentured slaves for Deep State.
As I noted in Post #10 I know Natick well. There was a time when it was working class/middle class but like nearby suburbs it’s become more middle class/upper class in recent years. Lots of Teslas and Range Rovers in driveways today. There’s a wealthy section of the town that borders a town called Dover...the second wealthiest town in the state. Lots and lots of money. Maybe the wetbacks can set themselves up there. Or would we see a replay of Martha’s Vineyard if they did?
See Posts #10 and #18.
If they get in the way Homan will arrest them, and they deserve it. Felony.
