House Republicans are fuming at Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) handling of an end-of-year measure to extend government funding until March, saying it is more like a sprawling omnibus — which they abhor — than a simple temporary funding measure.
The continuing resolution (CR), which will keep government funding at current levels through March 14, is also set to include $100.4 billion in disaster aid for those affected by hurricanes earlier this year and $10 billion in economic assistance for farmers, lawmakers said, among other provisions.
“It’s not a CR, which is a continuation of the budget. It’s turning into an omnibus,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said.
Advertisement The final text of the measure has not yet been released, as congressional leaders work through the remaining hangups ahead of Friday’s funding deadline. But as the package begins to come into clear focus, Republicans of all stripes — including hard-line conservatives, committee chairs and moderates — are hammering away at Johnson for its contents, the process he followed to craft it, and how he plans to bring it to the floor for a vote.
“It’s a total dumpster fire. I think it’s garbage,” said Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.), a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus. “This is what Washington, D.C., has done. This is why I ran for Congress, to try to stop this. And sadly, this is happening again.”
“We get this negotiated crap, and we’re forced to eat this crap sandwich,” echoed Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas), another Freedom Caucus member. “Why? Because freaking Christmas is right around the corner. It’s the same dang thing every year. Legislate by crisis, legislate by calendar. Not legislate because it’s the right thing to do.”

The Deep State is there to insure that any responsible fiscal conservative leads the House or Senate. We were begging for a decent House Speaker and we got a Swamp creature.
The Swamp is never going to change. I hope Trump pushes for it, but the Deep State is going to go out fighting every step of the way and they have the numbers and they will be in power forever.
I hate my corrupt evil government.
Reps are owned and controlled and are reduced to being mere paid actors.
Their compensation package helps them deal with any guilt or remorse.
I don’t have any problem with that. People need help...just do it.
“$36 Trillion debt...do I hear 37...37 going once, going twice, SOLD to Mr. Johnson!”
"Things that were out of our control."
If the Speaker is not IN CONTROL, the he is by definition OUT OF CONTROL.
Corruption, even when wrapped in cotton candy and trotted out on a unicorn, is still corruption.
This was always reality.
ACCEPT THAT WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE, IS IMPOSSIBLE.
We are at $37T debt. NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
You could have a 100% MAGA House and Senate and there would be no difference. It has gone too far. All problems don’t have answers. This is one of those that has none.
What will be done is a reduction of spending by 0.01% and VERY LOUD celebration of “good start”. Reality is . . . this is absurd. Reality is math. 0.01% spending reduction will be erased instantly and overwhelmed by the interest on the ALWAYS GROWING debt.
Is it a prerequisite to be Speaker of the House that they must have that greasy used car salesman look?
The current burn rate is 1 trillion dollars every 100 days.

what did you expect? speaker “keep the old guard intact” is literally getting tazed by.. “the old guard” to keep the old guard intact.
Same old wait until the deadline and cave to the Dems.
Controlled opposition.
The Democrats have a one seat majority in the senate but the senate Republicans have no power.
The Republicans have a five seat majority in the house but the Democrats have all of the power.
The Democrat agenda moves forward.
Where is the party of fiscal conservatism?
So vote no. Squash it.
Someone should tell the Christian Johnson that being in debt is a sin.
Johnson NEEDS TO GO!! Unfortunately we lost a GREAT FIGHTER in the house Gaetz is gone and I am quite sure the house is extremely happy, back to the good ole boys club with no nasty Geatz around stirring things up!!! We have another LYIN RYAN there for Trumps agenda being stopped!!
We have HUGE government buildings EMPTY with no one going to work SELL THEM OFF TOO!!!
How long would we have to shut the government down to save $1 trillion?
