Joint Staff Addresses Drones Over New Jersey Military Installations
Defense.gov/News ^ | Dec. 14, 2024 | C. Todd Lopez, DOD News

During an on-background telephone call today, officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Aviation Administration and the Joint Staff provided comment and answered questions from reporters about the drone sightings.

A spokesperson from the Joint Staff acknowledged that there had been sightings of drones over two military installations in New Jersey, but said such sightings are typical.

"We have had confirmed sightings at Picatinny Arsenal and Naval Weapons Station Earle," the spokesperson said. "This is not a new issue for us. We've had to deal with drone incursions over our bases for quite a time now. It's something that we routinely respond to in each and every case when reporting is cited."

The spokesperson said military installations have means to detect and respond to such drones, and that security personnel are trained to identify, categorize and employ those tools to keep drones from flying unauthorized over U.S. military bases.

Right now, the FBI, DHS, FAA and DOD have been unable to determine who is responsible for flying the drones, and there's no indication that there are adversary nations involved.

"To date, we have no intelligence or observations that would indicate that they were aligned with a foreign actor or that they had malicious intent," the spokesperson said. "But ... we don't know. We have not been able to locate or identify the operators or the points of origin."

The spokesperson said that the military has "limited authorities" when it comes to conducting investigations off of military installations in the United States, and is also prohibited from conducting intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the United States which might be used to determine the origins of who might be flying the drones. But the spokesperson also said those military installations have good relations with local law enforcement,...

I would say they are lying. Unless America’s infrastructure to detect flying craft has fallen into disrepair, they know.

NY, NJ lawmakers demand feds stop gaslighting, start shooting down drones: ‘Gone too far’

NY Post ^ | Dec. 14, 2024, 6:10 p.m. ET | Chris Harris

Shoot to kill.

A growing chorus of local officials in New Jersey and New York are demanding the feds stop gaslighting locals and finally shoot down a drone.

Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) demanded Saturday the Pentagon open fire on one of the nearly 1,000 drones that’ve been spotted above the Garden State since Nov. 18, so answers can be had.

“Why can’t we bag at least one drone and get to the bottom of this?” Smith wondered aloud during a press conference in Seaside Heights. “Why can’t we even track a suspect drone to its origin? Have we so little control over our airspace?”

His demand came just hours after New York Gov. Hochul declared it’s time to take action. “This has gone too far,” she said in a terse statement Saturday announcing that she asked federal authorities to authorize local police departments to shoot down drones.

They echoed sentiments already expressed by concerned citizens and even President-elect Donald Trump, who said he wants the feds to shoot a drone out of the sky. “Let the public know, and now,” Trump urged. “Otherwise, shoot them down!”

The rising rhetoric comes on the heels of more alarming sightings.

Stewart International Airport in upstate Newburgh closed its runways for an hour Friday night after two drones were seen overhead.

The commercial airport is adjacent to a New York Air National Guard base, where the 105th Airlift Wing is stationed.

New Jersey’s largest utility, PSE&G, petitioned the FAA to halt all air traffic over two of its nuclear power plants — after drones were recently spotted over the sensitive sites. It is the first time the company has made such an appeal.

Of course they know. They are the ones deploying/operating them.

On another thread:

Deep State liars. And everyone knows it.

What I, and most Americans, find grossly insulting is all the feds running around throwing up their hands saying, "We don't know what these are either."

What is exceedingly frustrating is that not one fed will say or do anything -- anything. And what is the number one job of the federal government? Number one. The defense of the citizens. And the feds are all claiming impotence and allowing all these things to overfly the eastern seaboard. Incredible.

As I've stated, these drones have bright, standard aircraft lighting on them. I highly doubt any foreign entity would conspicuously add aircraft marking lights to their spy drones.

They want everybody to believe that the vaunted American military possesses nothing to shoot down or take down these drones out of the sky? Come on. Americans are mad because they know the Biden administration is outright and flagrantly lying to us.

If that were true they'd be running around like their hair was on fire.

Declaring martial law because of a Russian/Iranian drone attack would enable them to keep Trump out of office and arrest him for "collusion."
