Exactly what I was thinking. There was nothing “vigilante” about it - Penny had no idea that Neely was a convicted felon with outstanding arrest warrants and a history of violence.
Penny was simply acting to defend himself and other subway passengers from an insane violent thug. He should have been given a medal and commendation.
