Migrant families and immigration advocacy groups are preparing for millions of families to potentially be separated from each other during the mass deportations planned by President-elect Donald Trump.
In states like Arizona, Colorado and Pennsylvania, mixed-status families, asylum-seekers and advocates say they are planning for scenarios where children could be separated from their parents.
In Pennsylvania, Lillie, a U.S. citizen who did not want to use her last name out of concern for her family’s safety, has been married to her undocumented husband from Honduras for 10 years. Last week, she took her U.S.-born children to get their passports and plans to get a power of attorney drawn up in the event her husband gets deported, she said.
“If something happens and my husband is detained or he’s deported, it would be very difficult for me to get passports for my children, for our children, to be able to leave the country to go see him,” she said.
Her husband was detained back in 2017, during the last Trump administration, for about two months. The experience has affected him “mentally and emotionally,” she said.
“He’s made it clear that if it were to happen again, it would not be ‘Let’s stay and fight,’” Lillie said. “It would be ‘Let’s just go,’ because he does not want to stay in detention again.”
Scenes of asylum-seeker encampments in nonborder cities as well as high-profile crimes committed by immigrants contributed to immigration becoming a key issue in this year’s election in states like Arizona that helped Trump return to the White House.

trump will not break up any families....he will deport the whole family. they already said that. the media just likes to stir the pot,
Nothing prevents her from moving out of the country with her husband.
An Illegal dropping a kid in the US should not be dropping a US citizen
That’s how migration has worked for millennia. If someone moves to another part of the world, the rest of the family stays behind and, maybe, follows later on. Or stays behind because they don’t care to move.
Just tell them to go home. They can all meet up again there. Azhos split their own families to illegally sneak into America. Splitting their families isn’t our problem. The azhos sent their unaccompanied toddlers up the trail with murderers and cartel members. Sometimes even alone. Screw them.
If your wife is getting deported and you don’t go with her, what does that say about you?
TOUGH NOOGIES!!
All their bags are packed, they’re ready to go....
Those capable of critical thought no longer give a s***. If they’re illegal get them the hell out of this country.
If she is married to him, he won’t be deported. That’s not how it works. This is just misinformation
Lillie, a U.S. citizen has been married to her undocumented husband from Honduras for 10 years
Who fault is it that she married an ILLEGAL???
Her husband was detained back in 2017, during the last Trump administration, for about two months. The experience has affected him “mentally and emotionally"
Whose fault was it that he broke into our country in the first place???
If we had functioning immigration systems, he would have been caught and deported right after sneaking in illegally.
These incessant articles always blame Trump for enforcing the LAW but never blame the CRIMINAL.
How many people fall for this crap?
Something tells me they’ll still be collecting SSI.....here or there.
As part of a 10-month investigation Scripps News uncovered that every year, thousands of migrant children “disappear” from their homes shortly after arriving in the U.S. But there is no clear local, state or federal govt agency searching for the ‘missing” ...Apr 2, 2024
This is so bogus-——the kids arent missing, they are loaned out, passed around to other migrants, used in lucrative scams to get tax dollars from S/S and hefty disability checks.
Vindictive Biden overturned Trump’s order to get the DNA of these so-called needy families, to make sure the kids are really theirs.
A common practice by these greedy illegals is getting a crooked doctor to say a kid’s autistic b/c they get hefty SS tax paid benefits every month for the kid.
The maximum possible disability benefit for autism in 2024 is $943 per month for SSI and about $3,822 per month for SSDI. These maximums apply regardless of what condition you have or whether you apply with one condition or multiple. The actual amount received depends on specific circumstances. (Dec 7, 2023)
Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is a key benefit for children under 16 living with disability, including autism. It is assessed according to care needs, and a diagnosis is not required to make a claim. DLA helps cover the extra costs of raising a child with a disability. (Jan 30, 2024)
And it’s a sure bet they invent their “family circumstances.”
Plus senior illegals are draining the system, collecting without working a day here, not having put a dime into the system.
This whole procedure becomes much easier if employers are criminally prosecuted when found to have illegals on staff.
If there is no money, the illegals self-deport. Don’t have to search them out and ship them out and have the receiving country refuse airspace clearance. Avoid all of that by punishing employers. Loudly.
The costs with deporting collapse if they ship themselves out.
They were already "split" families a few years ago until they came across our border illegally and swamped our country.
Why hasn’t he been filling out the paperwork and trying to make himself legal in all this time? Or is the joy of being a Honduran so great that he didn’t want citizenship here?
Nobody is making the whole family from going.
How about we start with criminals and cartel members. Most of those invaders look like single young men and young girls.
