Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized a call between Germany’s chancellor and Russian President Vladimir Putin as opening a “Pandora’s box” that only works to undermine efforts to isolate Russia’s leader.
“This is exactly what Putin has been wanting for a long time: it is extremely important for him to weaken his isolation, Russia’s isolation, and to have normal negotiations that will not end in anything,” Zelensky said about Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s call.
The conversation on Friday was the first time Scholz had spoken with Putin in two years. It comes as the German leader gears up for a snap election and Europe waits to hear US President-elect Donald Trump’s plan for ending the war in Ukraine.
The Kremlin said the conversation had come at Berlin’s request, and that Putin had told Scholz any agreement to end the war in Ukraine must take Russian security interests into account and reflect “new territorial realities.”

Maybe the Germans don’t want to freeze in one of the coming winters.

As a side note, the local powers-that-be in Germany are taking after the British and hassling with police some ordinary Germans over simply insulting a politician. Thankfully we are in the US, and can say openly Joe Biden is a "crook" and Kamala Harris a "crook's losing sidekick."
It’s a bit of a joke: A relative handful of Western countries keep talking about “isolating” Russia while it maintains or strengthens ties with 90% of the planet. But the NATO clique is dismissive about all the other benighted nations it looks down upon, even as more and more of them become wealthier, more powerful and more populous than their decaying lands.
Someday Z is going to disappear and what’s left of Ukraine will celebrate.
The EU Globo Homos, many of them old school Moscow friendly Pinkos like Scholz, love to do business with Putin’s regime. They are US hating peas in a pod.
The thought of peace scares the crap out of the young Churchill.
I wonder if the “Pandora’s Box” he’s talking about is all the dirt he has on Western politicians for the money laundering and other corruption they’ve been using Ukraine to facilitate? If he and Ukraine get cut loose, he may pull all of them down with him.

The EU worked hard to collapse Russia….BUT the EU is fracturing, and Germany is collapsing…..hilarious, and a good lesson to be learned.
The collective West should be ashamed of what they did.
The world has seen what St Z and senile Joe did to the EU and the Ukrainian people. Germany’s government and manufacturing collapsed, the EU bled dry and fractured.
Senile Joe’s Project Ukraine will be remembered as his last debacle. RIP Ukraine.
Ok, Russia can sit-n-spin, as far as I’m concerned. But the Ukraine is no paragon of virtue either. The ONLY reasons they are getting so much support is a) they OWN the Biden’s and b) the defense contractors LOVE the orders.
Ukraine and Russia need to solve their own damned problems.
Germany made their bed many years ago by not getting rid of their dependency on Russian energy products. I've always found it ironic that when Hitler invaded Russia to gain control of their oil fields, he actually ended up making Germany energy dependent on Russia for decades after the war ended.
Well stated!!
No one is stopping France or whoever from sending troops.
Good luck. Bonne chance! :)
A bit OT, but is anyone following the riots in Georgia (the country)?
