Former Department of Defense official Kash Patel is being considered for several national security posts — including CIA director, a key GOP source told The Post on Monday.
Patel, 44, previously served as a National Security Council official, senior adviser to the acting director of national intelligence and chief of staff to the secretary of defense.
While President-elect Donald Trump has not officially arrived a decision about Patel’s final move, there has been “conversations” between the transition team and the former Trump official — with the majority of the discussions in Trump World being focused on the CIA, according to the source.
If he doesn’t lead the CIA, Patel could head the FBI or become the director of National Intelligence — which he would also accept alongside any other position Trump would appoint him to, the source said.
Patel had been in conversations to be installed as deputy CIA director at the end of Trump’s term, but the head of the agency, Gian Haspel, voiced opposition, threatening to resign, Axios reported at the time.

Whomever he chooses needs to get rid of all middle management under him, because they’ll likely sabotage him and keep him out of the loop.
He would be great in any or all of these posts - or AG .

Is Katel an experienced hatchet man?
And if the courts make it difficult to fire these people, then the solution after that is easy. Just set up a big tent about 20 miles down the road from CIA headquarters. Put in a bunch of picnic tables and make sure it’s heated. Remove all of their top-secret clearances
And inside the tent, just have a bunch of decks of cards and water coolers where all the people that Trump wanted to fire, but courts are frustrating the efforts, they can go in and sit there all day long while Trump goes back and rehires new people in their place. That way they’re not actually fired, but they’re completely eliminated from any sphere of influence.
When does Milley get burned at the stake, we got to burn him at the stake… politically, burn him at the stake politically, that’s what I meant.
John Brennan’s days are numbered.
He will not escape the severe pain and punishment headed his way. Watch what happens to that evil slime ball in 2025. Trump is unleashing hell.
Can the CIA be made right, even a scrap of it? They went off mission 80 yrs ago, and have been the source of trouble round the world.
Are you kidding? He’s a shark. 😉

Great choice. Didn’t he write the book Government Gangsters?
Others round here know better than me. But if Gina Haspel hates him, that’s a reason to like him.
First order should be top two floors submit your resignation and pack your desks.
Of course, CIA “director” Gina Haspel rejected Patel; she was too busy approving instantaneously the publication of the 51 liars from the intel community who averred that the Hunter Biden laptop was a Russian trick.
Those who frequent this site from the administration would be well served to reach out to J Michael Waller regarding the future of the CIA.
