In Game 4 of the World Series, baseball fans got a moment as unforgettable as it was controversial, unfolding between Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts and a front-row Yankees fan at Yankee Stadium. In the bottom of the first inning, Gleyber Torres sent a fly ball slicing toward foul territory. Betts, ever the defensive powerhouse, sprinted to the wall, poised to make the grab. But just as he leapt for the ball, the fan reached over, grabbed Betts’ glove, and yanked the ball away.
The umpire’s decision was swift: Torres was out due to fan interference, and security quickly escorted the fan from the stadium. So, what does the MLB rulebook say about fan interference? And was this fan’s behavior actually against the rules?....
With reports identifying the glove-snatching fan as season ticket holder Austin Capobianco, there’s speculation about further consequences....

What a stupid take on this play, first of all Mookie clearly had already caught the ball and had it securely in his glove for an out. The Yankee fan, with the help of his a-hole friend grabbed the glove and tried to pull it off of Mook’s hand, then pried it open causing the ball to flop out. Sorry jerk, it’s still an out without any interference call.
Trying to molest a player and pull his glove off and jerk his arm over the railing is almost grounds for a criminal assault charge, there’s no excuse for it. As it was, Beavis and his pal Butthead were escorted out of the stadium and they will be barred from ever attending any games in the future, not only at Yankee stadium, but at every other stadium in MLB too. I hope they can enforce it.
Those people have a lot of money to piss away, so they are likely to be treated with kid gloves.
They said in a broadcast after the game that the two idiots were escorted out and would not be allowed back, ever.
Just reporting what I heard along with my anecdote which I know to be true.
The article says they tossed him out on his ear so who knows. The way dufus was waving his arm around, you can almost hear him yelling Mookie didn’t have the right to catch the ball ‘over this line’. Money’ed or not, no team needs an entitled little snit like that in the stands. Betts is still a jerk for taking a ‘educated’ knee in 2020, but I still hope he sues the pants off dufus for assault. People these days!
Can you imagine if they had injured Betts, like breaking his wrist or something similar? He couldn’t play after that!
Those 2 idiots will probably be banned, for life, by MLB from *every* baseball stadium
Not a good look ... even the real Yankees fans were appalled
It’s Bull💩. Toss both of the dickheads. Ban them from tomorrows game, the ump got it right. Play ball. It’s NYC. What do you expect. Dave Robert’s got it right, and it ain’t Mookie’s first rodeo. Learn it, love it, live it. Thank the lord we have baseball idiots and great teams. God loves us! Relish the game. Be safe and keep your damn hands in the stands. My take. 👍
Mookie got mugged in Yankee Stadium in front of tens of thousands of people and a live audience. No excuse for that.
The problem with player-fan interactions in the stands is that MLB actually encourages this sort of thing by playing the game in venues where fans can reach onto the field of play, and where players can make a play on a live ball in the stands. With all the money that has been spent on new ballparks over the years, you’d think MLB would have corrected this in the stadium design process.
If he tried to taunt Albert Belle he probably got his a$$ kicked by Albert Belle. AB was not the guy to taunt.

Dodgers lead series 3-1.
“I’m pretty sure there’s no way the Yankees would ever ban a season ticket holder from Yankee Stadium over that sort of thing.”
Oh, they will ban him and his buddy. Mookie was mugged.
If the Yankees come back and win this series, those two are going to be folk heroes in NYC … because up until that point, they showed more heart and passion against the Dodgers than the Yankees did.
11-2?
As if any connection need be made.
Hope the replay gets a lot of air time this week.
I am enjoying watching the Yankees struggle. The frustration of the Yankees fans is like fuel for my baseball soul.
I was thinking the same thing.
The Dodgers are definitely better than the Yankees on paper, so that meant the Yankees were going to have to put in extra effort to stay competitive.
The fans were totally out of bounds and crazy—but the Yankees started playing a lot tougher after that.
Finding even what should be an easy answer to obtain, no longer is on the internet.
So what was the actual score?
The two were lucky they were ejected and not arrested.
