The NYPD is investigating the disturbing staged accident on the Belt Parkway that went viral on TikTok — as experts said such insurance scams are on the rise in New York because fraudsters are “getting away with it.”
A police spokesperson said Tuesday that detectives have interviewed victim Ashpia Natasha about the Oct. 16 caught-on-dashcam crash, in which another driver reversed into her front bumper on the busy Queens highway just before several passengers spilled out and tried to claim they were hurt.
“The investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Criminal Enterprise Investigation Unit’s Fraudulent Collision Investigation Squad,” a department spokesperson said in a brief statement.
Unfortunately, cases like Natasha’s are becoming more and more common as brazen crooks search for scams to run on unsuspecting victims — even old-school schemes like cutting someone off, slamming on the brakes and then squeezing them for insurance money afterward.

Correct very common in other countries.
To protect oneself from such fraud.
I was just saying the same thing myself, But I saw the video and at the very least they could have and should have charged the driver with Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Get two, for front and back! And with the millions of illegal aliens (including criminals) driving around, get two more for the sides!
I bought a good one for less than $150, kingsman. Has front and back 4k. Well worth it.
These drivers should “finish the job”.
This is not a new scam. Here in Cali passenger cars full of people have been known to pull in front of semi-trailers on the freeway and then hit the brakes. Often it results in an insurance payoff. But least once it ended with 4 dead passengers when the car exploded on impact.
I am only saying this because I am trying to help you...
When foreigners started blowing up our airplanes, many people said...”We need to have our daughters and grandmothers groped by TSA to prevent this from happening again.”
Others said, “We need to remove foreigners from our country.”
The first group won that argument.
As we see minorities use scams like this against normal Americans, our thoughts shouldn’t be...”What can I buy to preventing them from getting me too?” Instead it should be....”I need to spend as little time as possible in the physical proximity of minorities.”
It’s easy to defeat these cameras with tailgaters. A smart crook will watch for tailgaters. As soon as the tailgater looks away or looks down, they hit brakes. In court even if it looks like they hit the brakes for no reason, it does not give YOU the right to rear-end them.
Ford Pinto?
And since your advice makes no sense, get a damn dash cam. Unless your car is equipped with a device that points out minorities in traffic.
What fantastic acting!!
You misunderstand. I have designed my life in a way that I am almost never near them anymore. I rarely have to worry about things like this.
I have a dashcam so that I can get footage of deer I might happen to hit.
Just another reason not to drive north with FL tags.
I've been following this story. The NYPD were remarkably uninterested until it went viral. The woman had gone to the police several times only to be rebuffed. "Take it up with your insurance."
Just call it “performance art.”
And think of the insurance pay-out as a “foundation grant.”
The Belt parkway is usually so crowded I’m surprised a collision would cause any damage.
“In court even if it looks like they hit the brakes for no reason, it does not give YOU the right to rear-end them.”
Not the right to rear end them but it may put them at fault
Link please. I only find something called Kingslim. Thanks
