The Atlantic report alleging Trump disparaged slain Army private blasted by family, others: 'Absolutely false'

The Atlantic is facing intense scrutiny over a report alleging former President Trump disparaged a slain Mexican-American Army private while he was in office, with some involved with the story declaring it "false" and a "hit piece."

Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, began a lengthy report published Tuesday about Trump's interaction with the family of 20-year-old Vanessa Guillén, the daughter of Mexican immigrants who was murdered in April 2020 by a fellow soldier at Fort Hood.

After her remains were discovered two months later, Trump consoled Guillén's family at the White House and offered to provide financial assistance to cover the funeral costs... [Natalie] Khawam [Guillén's family attorney] accused Goldberg of lying.

"After having dealt with hundreds of reporters in my legal career, this is unfortunately the first time I have to go on record and call out Jeffrey Goldberg@the Atlantic: not only did he misrepresent our conversation but he outright LIED in HIS sensational story," Khawam wrote on X. "More importantly, he used and exploited my clients, and Vanessa Guillen’s murder… for cheap political gain. I would like to also point out that the timing of this ‘story’ is quite suspicious, as this supposed conversation that Trump had would have occurred over 4 years ago! Why a story about it now?!"

"As everyone knows, not only did Trump support our military, he also invited my clients to the Oval Office and supported the I Am Vanessa Guillen bill too....

The slander Goldberg published in his Atlantic article are too lengthy to include in an exerpt, best to read the article.

They’re pulling out all the stops now. Other stories saying he’s a Nazi sympathizer. Now this.
It’s all bullshit and it won’t work.

Interesting isn’t it that Trump suddenly became a Nazi on June 16, 2015.

The Democrat party rarely makes substantive arguments on policy.
They mostly resort to ad hominum fallacy for their arguments (e.g. "Trump is Hitler").

Lying jerks like Goldberg are the reason why there’s anti-Semitism in the world.

As a public figure, Trump can’t go after Goldberg, but the family sure as hell can, and I hope they and their lawyer anally rape Goldberg and the Atlantic for everything he and that kennel liner he works for has.

A stinking pile of lies. Should be sued. All this story is missing is Putin collusion, use of the n word, hookers peeing on beds, and what ever leftist fairy tale one can make up.

Same guy who accused Trump in 2018 of calling the military “losers” and “suckers” at a US Veterans cemetery in France.

All freshmen in my college got a free year sub to that liberal, commie rag in 80 and 81 because of some rich beta cuck. I couldn’t get past the first few pages of the first one I got. Totally boring, pompous and unfunny when it tried to be humorous. Like the New Yorker when I’ve seen that. Even the font they use is annoying. Threw the rest out as they came in the mail.

Update....

Collin Rugg
@CollinRugg

JUST IN: The sister of Vanessa Guillén absolutely rips The Atlantic after they released a hit piece on Trump about her sister’s de*th.

Mayra Guillen says she is voting for Trump after unleashing on the outlet for politicizing Vanessa’s de*th.

The Atlantic tried claiming Trump disparaged Vanessa and refused to pay for her funeral expenses.

Vanessa was a 20-year-old Army private who was m*rdered at Fort Hood, in Texas.

Vanessa was k*lled by a soldier and his girlfriend. Her body was burned and found two months after she had gone missing.

Mayra Guillen says the accusations made by The Atlantic are false and says Trump “did nothing but show respect to my family & Vanessa.”

“I don’t appreciate how you are exploiting my sister’s death for politics- hurtful & disrespectful to the important changes she made for service members,”
@mguilen_
said on X.

“President Donald Trump did nothing but show respect to my family & Vanessa. In fact, I voted for President Trump today.”

One good thing about this election is that The Atlantic is setting fire to whatever credibility they ever had.

Theo Wold
@RealTheoWold

I was at President Trump’s meeting with the Guillén family because I assisted with translation that day.

President Trump was genuinely concerned about Vanessa Guillén and appalled by the tragedy the Guillén Family were enduring.

@mguilen_
was poised and confident in advocating for her sister then and she’s right again today: The Atlantic hit piece is a lie.

For example, President Trump had zero interest in the cameras. He met with the Guillén family privately for twenty minutes and offered the press gaggle solely if it would assist them in honoring Army Specialist Guillén and raising awareness about her case. He even told them that day that the press are vipers.

Boy was President Trump right.

Actually Trump can go after the paper, you can still be held accountable for slander and liable even if the person is a public figure, the bar is just higher to jump.

Basically Trump would have to show they knowingly lied and did so with malice.

Given the current facts it sounds like he has a case to hold them for liable.

1. They lied and the person interviewed has gone on record stating they did so egregiously.
2. They released the article in a very questionable timing, literally an Oct Surprise timing
3. The article presents a narrative that could be extremely damaging and given the timing this can show the intent was there to cease harm ( malice).

Yes Goldberg could be in very serous legal trouble along with the paper.
