New Zealand Weaponizes Gun Registry: Firearms Confiscated for 'Improper Beliefs'
RAIR Foundation USA ^ | 11/19/2024 | RAIR Foundation USA

New Zealand has demonstrated why no free people should ever tolerate any form of gun registry.

Those against registries always claim that this is one step from confiscation.

New Zealand has proven that this is true with a current round of 62 gun licenses revoked for improper beliefs, which then require surrendering the firearms to the state.

According to Waikatotimes NZ, New Zealand authorities conducted “Operation Belfast” in 2022 to “identify risks to law enforcement.”

They focused on identifying members of a group called SovCits, a condensate of Sovereign Citizens.

This group is alleged to believe that the federal government is illegitimate.

5/28/2024 - ATF director says "we have to work within that system" without gun registry

Steven Dettelbach, director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said Sunday on "Face the Nation" ... "without a federal gun registry, the agency has to go through a "system of records" to trace crime guns.

"That means that we have to work within that system. That means that we have more people there pouring through records." Dettelbach said on "Face the Nation." "For what we call a normal trace, right now we're running at about an eight-day lag."

The ATF is prohibited by federal law from creating a centralized database of registered gun owners. Instead, they must sort through a system of records, of which they are sent millions per month, according to Dettelbach.

The director said tracing crime guns is one of the areas of intelligence that is "so important." But the process isn't especially straightforward.

"The way it doesn't happen is we punch in a person's name, and up comes 'oh, they own so many guns,'" Dettelbach said. "Congress has prohibited us from doing that."

Dettelbach said that the agency pays to have the search function taken out of their software, explaining that the function that other customers use must be removed in order to comply with U.S. law.

Instead, the ATF works to find the initial purchaser of the firearm through its system of records, before being able to confirm whether they or someone else committed the crime.

That means that we have more people there pouring through records.

Try ‘poring,’ instead. It’ll go faster.

Proof positive that the ‘Five Eyes’ are now totally (excuse me but has to be exactly stated) fascist in the real meaning.

That squirrel-toothed Jacinda Ardern: “I am speaking! Let it be writ, let it be done.” Kiwis’ guns, poof!
She sounds a lot like another tyrant squirrellette we know don’t she?
Thank God we aren’t subjects.

Wow. That Benjamin Franklin quote is a great one I don’t remember. Thanks for that.

Those who beat their swords into plowshares usually end up plowing for those who kept their swords.

RE: Poring over the information while pouring another drink to cope with criticism. 😉

Another similar one is “riffling” through pages mistakenly said to be “rifling.”

And “regard” not “regards” except for Broadway.

Sorry, I don't understand your reference. Can you please expand?

A favorite/hated malapropism of mine is substituting "ripe" for "rife," as in: "The federal govt. is ripe with corruption."

Regards,

Oddly phrased.

“gun licenses revoked for improper beliefs”. What is an improper belief? Who decides?

It means we can sing “Give my regards to Broadway, remember me to Herald Square” but we should not say “In regards to the earlier case” “In regards to his speech yesterday”——which should be “regard.”

From ProWriting Aid website:

“With Regard To or With Regards To?
You should always use with regard to, instead of with regards to. The version with an extra S is incorrect.

The noun regard means “respect” or “relation,” so saying with regard to is like saying “with respect to” or “with relation to.””
