A secretive US spaceship will attempt flight maneuvers above Earth that have never before been performed.
We are talking about the Boeing X-37, a reusable robotic spacecraft.
The X-37 is boosted into space by a launch vehicle and re-enters Earth’s atmosphere landing as a spaceplane.
The project began as a NASA project back in 1999, but it was transferred to the US Department of Defense in 2004.
The X-37 is presently operated by the Department of the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, in collaboration with United States Space Force.
It is used for ‘orbital spaceflight missions’ that are intended to ‘demonstrate reusable space technologies’.
New York Post reported:
“Although little has been revealed about the purpose of the vehicle, an official painting of the X-37B unveiled last year depicted the futuristic vehicle intercepting an adversary satellite positioning to disable a friendly satellite.”
The Space Force announced that the X-37B will execute a series of ‘novel maneuvers’ called aerobraking.
This will consist of a series of passes using the impulse of Earth’s atmosphere to modify its orbit around our planet while expending minimal fuel.
The maneuver should allow the X-37B to safely dispose of its service module components.

“Although little has been revealed about the purpose of the vehicle”
But, Fake News would love to give America’a enemies the info.
Did it crash yet ? or when it hits the atmosphere does it just go bo-ing bo-ing bo-ing like when you skip a rock
Maneuvering the vehicle in LEO can be very risky for the spacecraft.
At the high orbital speeds, often around 17,500 mph, the friction can take a terrific toll on the spacecraft.
IIRC Sunspot activity can expand the atmosphere making it necessary to push the aircraft into a higher orbit for the safety of the vehicle
I guess they’re convinced of what they are doing
That thing must have quite the capabilities for such a small craft
I saw a photo of the x37 and what they have planned to scale it up to. Something like a larger unmanned one, then one that can carry 4 people, then 8 then like 20+. It fascinates me that it’s up there for a year or two and then forget all about it and then it pop’s back in the new. I wonder what it’s really doing.
Maybe it has a SIR-B follow-on? Probably -H by now
Maybe it releases micro-satellites?
It’s relatively small but they sure are mysterious about it
The maneuver should allow the X-37B to safely dispose of its service module components.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This is Commie Double speak for dropping nuclear bombs.
They are calibrating the braking geometry with a parabolic arc of bomb descent for targeting purposes.
This simply put is Commie Double speak worthy of the name ‘Arc Bark”. And our tax dollars are paying for it, and they keep us in the dark?
THe Obamatrons want a way to make a safe initial strike without a possibility of response to circumvent MAD.
Elon Musk could do this is a week or so.But they have the US Air Farce doing it with a DEI plagued Boeing. What could possibly go wrong?
China is doing the same.
I think they are doing this to make Boeing and NASA “relevant” since Elon is kicking their butts.
It’s definitely multi-function. Not only ‘release’, but likely capture.
They’ve been testing all kinds of maneuvering capabilities for a decade with this thing - and every single mission has come home.
This ‘Space Force’ thing wasn’t a joke.
China already has one.
I wonder what it’s really doing.

Trade missions with Others
ICBM stockpile in high orbit. ‘Rods of God’. Fuel storage in orbit. These could also be prepositioned around the moon.
The craft never leaves LEO and cannot get to the Moon by any stretch of the imagination.
The rest is just silly.
