Target, Walmart Will Both Be Closed (Again) on Thanksgiving

Shoppers considering spending some time in retail superstore outlets at the end of next month might need to rethink their strategy.

Walmart will not open on Thanksgiving Day for the fifth consecutive year to enable staff across the country to enjoy some family time, the company announced Monday.

Target is also remaining shuttered on the holiday.

“Walmart stores will be closed once again on Thanksgiving Day so associates can spend the day with their families,” a corporate statement from the outlet announced.

The company has made clear however it is offering its first Holiday Deals event of the season starting in October for customers to get started on their holiday shopping choices.

Target also will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Extra pay to cover their rent, pay for gas, buy food, pay utilities.

Average full time salary for Wally retail right now ranges between $30K to $50K.

Very few of the retail workers I know now work full time, and many have two jobs.

I do believe they know far better than you do what is best for them.

And if what’s best for them is working a holiday for extra pay, I wish they still had that choice.

Or that we had a government and a healthy economy that allowed them to stay home if they’d rather.

I used to work at a place that ran 24/7 I would volunteer to take someone’s place on Christmas if I had it off.

I’m really, really old school. Let’s go back to everything except essential services being closed on Sunday. Bring back the blue laws. This from someone (me) who fought tooth and nail when I was very young that everything should be open 24-7. Then I grew up.

Wait, wat?

I thought these woke companies believed that Thanksgiving celebration
masks the truth about our history as an oppressor of Native Americans. What's up?

I did that for most holidays. I did not have any family close enough to visit on those days so it made sense for me to stay and work rather then moping about my apartment.

The place I worked paid holiday pay which was double time and you got a floating vacation day for future use. Plus they would usually provide pizza.

It made it good for singles or divorced parents who didn't have their kids. And if you did them all you had an extra week of vacation time to use.

Feel that they probably should have done this long ago.

If you can’t open a can without a can opener I doubt you would have survived the fifties anyway.

I'll take the days under blue laws over what we have to day. No question about it.

Let's make Jews wear the Star of David to help identify them while we're at it. Jesus observed the Sabbath (the one instituted at Creation). The same as the Apostles. It makes one think they'll be no Sunday worship in Heaven.

Why would you want to enforce a religious law upon the people which has no Biblical foundation? It’s a stupid law.

Every law has a moral standard behind it. Are you for complete anarchy?

Stupid analogy. Gods Law is a moral law. The 10 Commandments are complete. They were wrote in stone by Gods Finger to signify permanence. They were followed to the letter by Jesus. We can follow Him as our example or we can do the woke thing and do our own made up religion, but what's the moral standard in that?

The blue laws have an interesting history. You should look into it, not the immediacy of your own needs and wants.

I lived it (as a child) with aisles blocked off in the store. Pagan Rome and Papal Rome have interesting histories as well. But I want nothing to do with either one. A better use of our time is to study the life of Jesus. What He did and the adversities He faced.
Speaking of Blue Laws and other religious laws, one can consider Herod the Great's, King of Judea, law decreeing the execution of all male children two years old and younger. I'm sure he thought that was a great moral law, as well. Food for thought.
