According to media reports, the US Navy was active near the crime scene shortly before the explosions that destroyed the Nord Stream pipelines and had switched off its transponders. This was reported by the Danish newspaper Politiken, citing statements by the port master of Christiansø. A few days before the sabotage, ships of the US Navy without transponder signals were spotted. Since the harbour master therefore assupted an emergency, he hushed into the sea area. There, however, he was immediately asked to repent by the Americans.

When the explosion first happened someone on X said something about a USN ship in the vicinity. I went on a marine tracking website I used to use tracking relief shipments I sent out at my last job, and found the USS Kearsage parked above the explosion site for days, up until about 48 hours before the explosion. Then it steamed hard through the Denmark strait, through the North Sea, and was through the English Channel before the explosions went off. Wish I'd taken screenshots now but those are my specific recollections.
