A station platform has been cordoned off at Hamburg central station in northern Germany amid fears that a train passenger may have arrived carrying a dangerous virus.
A fire department spokesman told the Bild tabloid that the man and his girlfriend had developed flu-like symptoms on a high-speed train from Frankfurt.

The idiot leftists who want millions of disease-ridden foreigners to come to the west are also the same people who love masks/vax/lockdowns. Their entire worldview is a complete mess. No common sense. Leftists are destroying our world and it’s gotta stop.
Since it’s named after Marburg, Germany and has killed several people there over the years starting in the late ‘60s, they should know pretty quickly if it’s that.
It’s killed only about 500 people around the world (but who can really know the toll in Africa), but has a death rate of about 25%.
Could be scary if that’s what it is.
Marburg, which is not airborne, can be transmitted by exposure to fruit bats and between people via body fluids through unprotected sex and broken skin. …So did these two sick people on the train have sex with the person they allegedly treated?
Too lethal. The person dies before he spreads the virus.
Kind of the same deal with Ebola.
Covid-19 was so contagious. Everyone ended up getting it.
> Too lethal. The person dies before he spreads the virus.
Actually according to Wikipedia the fatality rate is much higher, around 62%. Which is probably why it is self-limiting as MR points out.
I used the death rate in modern countries. I’m sure the death rate for all infectious diseases is much higher in places like Equatorial Africa.
I don’t think I ever got covid...if I did I’m not aware of it but then again I did have a cold or two the last 4 years.
you’re both right. WHO tags it at “ 24% to 88% in past outbreaks depending on virus strain and case management.” with an average of 50% mortality. Another bat virus that jumped to monkeys.
Some kind of incubation period involved. I would speculate minimum of 10 days (probably low-level fever around the 7th day).
This guy was in Africa...attending to sick people, then flew out. He arrived in Frankfurt’s Airport, and with the GF....took the ICE train to Hamburg. I would speculate here...getting off the plane...he had high fever and stomach issues. 3.5 hour train ride...the couple probably thought they could make it there. Once the ambulance crew were called to the platform...assessing things, they asked the right questions.
Statistically, Marburg kills about one out of four folks that contract it. If you were already in a weakened state or having a secondary illness....you probably won’t survive. I’d add this footnote...significant concentration of TB-affected people in Africa. Your survival odds decrease rapidly if you take Marburg and TB into account.
According to German media reports tests on the student and his girl-friend have come back negative. Maybe they just caught the flu. In any case it´s not Marburg, thank God.
