AARP Pa. poll has Trump, Harris close with some surprising statewide races down ballot

A new AARP poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump by 2 points in Pennsylvania with Trump holding an 8-point advantage among voters 50 and older.

The poll also showed some close races down ballot for U.S. Senate, state treasurer and attorney general. Mail-in ballots are now available in Pennsylvania and polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 5.

According to AARP, Harris leads Trump 49% to 47% with 2% backing other candidates. Without minor-party candidates included, Harris led 50% to 47%.

In the Senate race, Democrat Bob Casey leads Republican challenger Dave McCormick 49% to 45% among overall voters, but McCormick leads 50% to 45% among voters 50 and older.

The margin of error for overall voters is +/- 4 percentage points while it is +/- 3.5 points for voters 50 and over.

AARP is the latest among very few polls to survey the state treasurer and attorney general races.

Republican Treasurer Stacy Garrity is narrowly leading Democratic challenger Erin McClelland 45% to 44% with 11% undecided.

In the attorney general’s race, former auditor general and state representative Eugene DePasquale leads York County District Attorney Dave Sunday 47% to 44%, after Sunday led 44% to 43% in AARP’s April poll.

A Commonwealth Foundation poll released in July had DePasquale up 43% to 39% and McClelland leading 44% to 41%.

Harris is up 19 points over Trump among Pennsylvania women voters while Trump has a 16-point advantage among men, the AARP poll showed. The two candidates are tied at 48% among women 50 and older, but Trump has a 17-point lead among men 50 and older.

Eighty-four percent of voters 50 and older said that a candidate’s position on Social Security is an important factor in determining their vote followed by Medicare (77%), helping aging Americans stay in their homes (72%) and the cost of utilities (70%).

“Pennsylvania voters over age 50 are the biggest voting bloc and could tip the scale for any candidate in this election,” said Bill Johnston Walsh, AARP Pennsylvania’s state director, in a statement.

“If candidates want to win, they should pay attention to the issues that matter to voters 50 and older, from protecting Social Security and Medicare to helping people stay in their homes as they age,” he said.

Here in central PA, Trump signs outnumber Tramp signs about 25 to 1, except in the college towns.
Nevertheless, the Dems will cheat the bleep out of it on 11/5. Why shouldn’t they? There’s no downside for them.

Harris is up 19 points over Trump among Pennsylvania women voters while Trump has a 16-point advantage among men, the AARP poll showed. The two candidates are tied at 48% among women 50 and older, but Trump has a 17-point lead among men 50 and older.

This is a troubling set of numbers, not just politically, but within so many households.

Madame Vice President, we are at war!
American Thinker ^ | 1 Oct, 2024 | Ed Timperlake

Vice president and Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris has set an impressive bar for word salad.

But in one recent, exceptional statement, she was crystal-clear in her ignorance:

Vice President Kamala Harris declared on a debate stage in Philadelphia that “As of today, there is not one member of the United States military who is in active duty in a combat zone in any war zone around the world, the first time this century.”

In addition to ignoring U.S. troops offshore serving in combat situations, she and her MSM cheering squad have overlooked the most direct threat from a nation-state on American soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor.

But finally, the truth will out.

Even NBC and many other mainstream domestic and international news organizations have now reported on the state of Iran having an ongoing attempt to try and kill our former president and commander-in-chief, Donald Trump.

Top U.S. intelligence officials briefed former President Donald Trump on Tuesday about threats from Iran to assassinate him, a Trump campaign spokesperson said.

“President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States,” spokesperson Steven Cheung said in a statement.

Iran is now trying to make a direct attack on U.S. soil. Such a move transcends state-sponsored terrorism: Iran has crossed a threshold and is committing an act of war.
