Agreed. It could have gone much further. Carvey did a pretty good job but he could have (and should have) been more brutal.

The parody of Kamala was pretty spot on.

SNL is never going to be pro republican. Anyone thinking they would be hasn’t ever watched. But funny is funny, and they were finally funny the other night.
There are a lot of republicans who are as sensitive as Gen Z girlie boys on the other side—they are seeking to be offended. The manufactured outrage is kind of sad.
While fewer and fewer stay up that late to watch live, enough streaming (advertising) revenue comes in to justify the show's existence.
I know some people love to hate on SNL but some of the clips are still worth watching.
Of course not, they tried to make her look Presidential.
They had a bit with Trump at a rally where he briefly mentions the attempt. I wouldn’t say they were making fun of the assassination attempt, but I think most people would agree that it was in poor taste to even bring it up in a comedy skit, especially something so recent and in which an innocent spectator was killed.
I get all that.
l’m just pointing out that Biden is no longer a protected species and SNL did nothing “brave” here by ridiculing his infirmities or insulting him. They did not risk losing favor with their far-left partisan audiences or sponsors. None of them care about Biden anymore because he is no longer useful - if anything, he is an embarrassment and they would actually like to distance themselves from him.
Sure, their portrayal of Harris was just as “spot on” as was their portrayal of Biden - but they completely spared her any insult. The voice and mannerisms were accurate, but with none of the nasal shrillness, the desperate flailing or the shifty-eyed insecurity. There was no hint of the brainless word salads or non-sequiturs that are the hallmarks of her profound stupidity.
There are two elements to modern political satire: one is a spot-on imitation, the other is cutting insult. They imitated Harris but spared her any insult - since she is still a protected species.
They made her look like Biden’s compassionate caretaker.
Instead, Tom Shillue on Fox News has given us four years of comedy gold.
I thought the slams at Harris were more subtle. They made fun of her laugh. They made fun of her being “the same as Biden.” They made fun of her husband and running mate.
The only way that skit could have been funnier is to dig up Chris Farley and have him play Walz.
I guess my comment was directed at you specifically and I apologize if it came across that way.
It just seems that nothing short of fawning on Trump and eviscerating Harris would make some people happy.
I laughed out loud when they pulled the protective screen from in front of Vance/Yang. I laughed out loud at Biden. (The actors were all laughing at Biden.)
I am sure we will see more of this crew (less of Samberg would be OK.)
Now they have to work on the other 75 minutes of the show.
I only saw the one clip linked above.. it sounds like there were some good ones that I missed.. so take my critique with a grain of salt. :-)
No, they are not. The show has been terrible for decades and absolutely worthless for at least the last 5-10 years. Get your head out of your ass.
I especially liked the skit that showed about how people in some big appartment building kept getting Door Dash deliveries by some kid that kept getting the orders wrong and then running up and down stairways grabbing food he already gave to others and then trying to get back to the other apartment, only to find out he got the order wrong again. Hijinks ensued as the tenants began getting very angry and upset.

They COULD have had her go through a series of different ethnic situations and change her “accent” to fit each.
