WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. announced an agreement with the Iraqi government Friday to wrap up the military mission in Iraq of an American-led coalition fighting the Islamic State group by next year, with U.S. troops departing some bases that they have long occupied during a two-decade-long military presence in the country.
But the Biden administration refused to provide details on how many of the approximately 2,500 U.S. troops still serving in Iraq will remain there or acknowledge it will mark a full withdrawal from the country....
Following the November election, American forces will start departing from Ain al-Asad airbase in western Iraq and from Baghdad International Airport, ...
The continued presence of U.S. troops has been a political vulnerability for Sudani, whose government is under increased influence from Iran...“We thank the government for its position to expel the international coalition forces,” Qais Khazali, founder of Asaib Ahl al-Haq — an Iran-backed Iraqi Shia militia that has conducted attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq — said last week....

Foolishly giving away hard-won territory.
But wait....Kamala just said we had “0” troops in war zones.
See what we can do right before an election……FJB !
Im sure we are leaving behind the best equipment to these animals, a well planned deliberate move by these treasonous pr##S in government
good information on the taliban supply depot transfer.
did the announce how much cash they toss in to sweeten the deal?
This graphic is much more impactful than just saying $84 billion worth of equipment. Trump should flash graphics like this on the screen every time he mentions how much we left in Afghanistan.
“The Iraqi officials said some American troops may stay at Hareer base after 2026 because the Kurdistan regional government would like them to stay.”
Never ending war.
This is where we prosecute the politicalized leadership of the Pentagon and all the commanders involved. Obama wanted to take the US down a few notches. He has transferred all our military equipment, broke the troop strength and leadership, and thru his policies under Biden/Harris managed to force a continuous retreat of US forces now beginning.
I am no fan of Ukraine, but this equipment could have kept them in the war for another 6 months for free.
Instead, this equipment is being hauled back to Russia, China, India and other countries to be reverse engineered, sold on the black market, etc.
The failure of the Biden Admin in Afghanistan and Ukraine has led to a situation where soon the US will be withdrawaling forces from many more places in the Mid-East.
The way the Pentagon interviened in stopping deep missile strikes into Russia says it all - our Mid-East positioning is tenuous at best; Russia has armed Iranian proxies to hit the US military.
Prosecuting everyone involved in the decision making process starting with the civilian leadership and the political officers is a good place to begin.

“Never ending war.”
A war with terrorists is never over until one one person is left alive.

I wonder if the Taliban are on eBay. I would like to get a deal on some night vision equipment to hook up to my telescopes. I know that there are restrictions on EXPORTING these, but I don’t think importing is a problem. Anyway, better in the hands of Americans than who knows who. And, I’m recovering potentially dangerous property abandonded by our very careless government.

“Following the November election”
Biden has been ineffective in persuading Iraq to tell their Iranian buddies to bugger off, and he’s skeered to blow this withdrawal after the last disaster in Afganland. He’s opened the door to wait until Trump is elected. So Trump can tell Iraq to tell their Iranian buddies No, you can’t have our bases. And if you insist on us leaving, we intend to blow the bases back into the sand they were built on and send you the bill for our expense in doing so.
Just leave plenty of gear and documents.
Pulling out of the airport? Before leaving the $1billion/year Embassy compound? Sounds like Bagram/Kabul all over again.
You are 100% right on every point you made.
And by the way, I just read your home page. Thank you for your service, we need many more just like you!
