TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The U.S. Geological Survey experts projected that Tropical Storm Helene will bring significant coastal change to Florida’s west coast.
According to a USGS coastal change forecast, 94% of the beaches on Florida’s west coast are expected to become continuously covered by water from Tropical Storm Helene.
This can cause flooding behind sand dunes and impact coastal communities, making this the most severe level of coastal change.
Helene’s waves and surge are estimated to have the potential to cause 100% of all ocean-facing beaches on the Florida west coast to experience erosion and overwash, according to USGS experts.

It’s doom.
Chicken Little, please report for duty...
Wind, rain, surf, sand....a perfect storm.
And if there’s another on Election Day?

Must be bad polls or something out there for Que-Mala, and they need to divert/distract attention away from it.
They’re trying to make this thing sound like Hurrican Camille from 69. (I’d just left Keesler AFB for overseas when it hit - I was 10K miles away but my old barracks, etc. were blown away.)
Has any hurricane ever made landfall on a beach without causing erosion and “overwash?” I doubt it, but the media weather people are desperate for excitement in this year of scarcity.
So nothing has changed vis-a-vis tropical storms around Florida in the last billion years, is what they’re saying.
“The only thing that can save humanity is higher taxes and fewer freedoms!”
“And eating bugs! Don’t forget the eating bugs part!”
“””I’m hearing so much about this Storm.”””
For weeks the media has been begging for a hurricane so the 24 hour news cycle can devote its space to a hurricane instead of having to deal with Kamala’s daily gaffes.
thousands of storms but this one OMG IT’S THE END ,LOL
“””Must be bad polls or something out there for Que-Mala, and they need to divert/distract attention away from it.”””
I am saying the same thing.
Omg! Florida, once landlocked, has now become a peninsula surrounded by oceans with thousands of miles of beaches thanks to climate change! /sarc
Helene is the other Jamaican hurricane preparing to trash America.
The shallowness of the Gulf leads to much more “storm surge” than on the east coast (sans Miami). The beaches will indeed take a beating. Here in Juno Beach all I ever worry about are the winds.
“Overwash”
OMG! Tax me to death to stop the overwash.
We left NOLA for Mayport FL. a few days prior to Camille. Bussed back two days after. My ex (we got married a week after) and her family lived in Waveland/Bay St Louis area. Camille was nasty. If there were today’s tech then to take measurements..... Thanks for your service.
Ghost Crabs likely won’t make it to the polls.
Brother in Jacksonville said will hit there between 6:pm and midnight Thurs night.. Winds at 35-50, possible tornado and heavy rain.....or just pass it if there’s a course change..
They’re all hunkered down, have electric backup etc. so they’re set for whatever. Won’t get flood waters there as on a high knoll.
Because this is the very first major storm to ever hit Florida gulf coat. Eye roll
