Styrene is a colorless to yellowish, oily liquid. It is used in the manufacture of plastics, synthetic rubber, and resins, and as an insulator. It is also used as a flavoring agent for ice cream and candy. HUMAN STUDIES: Humans acutely exposed to styrene by inhalation to 800 ppm (3.4 mg/L) for 3 hr experience immediate eye and throat irritation, increased nasal mucous secretion, metallic taste, drowsiness, and vertigo. After test termination, slight muscular weakness, accompanied by inertia and depression were noted.

West of Cincinatti. There are some rich suburbs close by, so maybe something will happen this time since some of the elite are bing discomfited.

We used polystyrene cement to assemble our plastic scale models when I was growing up. The odor was noteworthy.

They could recruit some volunteers from there for clean up. I’m sure the ‘mare’ would be glad to assist.

Not a particularly harmful threat. Most likely, nearby area evacuated due to the potential of a spark and explosion. A physical threat, not a chemical one.

    It is a health hazard.
Kids sniffing model glue (styrene in small tubes) for highs triggered restrictions on sales of model glue.
Now consider the effects of the fumes from a million equivalent tubes.
The car venting is better than exploding.
