Ukraine started this year {2024} on the brink of disaster. A lot has changed since.
Business Insider ^ | September 9, 2024 | Thibault Spirlet

After entering 2024 in a sorry state, Ukraine has notched up a series of notable achievements since the start of the year, giving fresh impetus to its fight back against Russia.

... Western allies have let it use some of the missile systems they've supplied to hit targets inside Russia, with notable caveats, giving it a better chance to defend itself against incoming Russian attacks.

And it also regained the initiative with its surprise incursion into the Russian region of Kursk in August, even while gradually losing ground in eastern Ukraine.

"What Ukraine has done in the past month, starting with Kursk, is not going to turn around the war by any means," Abishur Prakash, the founder of The Geopolitical Business, Inc., a strategy advisory firm in Toronto, told BI.

"But it's definitely changed the war," he added.

...Russia, meanwhile, has struggled to respond quickly and effectively, partly due to its complex military structures, a lack of contingency plans, and poor command and control.

...Putin still believes Russia can slowly and indefinitely take over Ukraine through grinding advances and accomplish its objectives by fighting a war of attrition and outlasting Western support, it said. Ukraine's emphasis on regaining territory and reluctance to mobilize more soldiers may have complicated its defenses.

The front keeps moving west cronos. Your about page is full of Christian Bible verses so I wonder what God will think of the blood of a million dead on your dirty, neocon hands?

Look in your heart cronos, you know you are committing a mortal sin.

Russia, meanwhile, has struggled to respond quickly and effectively, partly due to its complex military structures, a lack of contingency plans, and poor command and control.

and Russia is running out of troops due to the above and the tactic of meat waves, 10 at a time until the objective is achieved or they run out of troops.

Putin cannot mobile as that is extremely unpopular. So he ups each soldier’s salary to 10 million rubles (just under 110K), money which Russia does not have as it burns through its cash reserves.

Unlike Cronos, who has no responsibility for the war, I wonder what God will think of supposed Christian Putin who actually is responsible for all the million death and destruction?

Outside of Russia's borders, The Russian army has always been a disaster.

Once you start fighting them inside their borders, they become savages who will fight you to the death.

Why did they fight so well outside their borders at the end of World War 2? One, they had outstanding officer leadership that grew out of the disastrous first year after Operation Barbarossa. Many of these Generals had been mid-level officers before June 22, 1941 and avoided Stalin's purges, or in the case of Zhukov was in the Far East and couldn't be touched. Second, the Red Army wanted blood-vengeance to what the national Socialists did to them for 3 years after Operation Barbarossa. Finally, they had trucks, planes, tanks, and other weapons and materiel from US Lend Lease that enabled them to be a fully mechanized army.

Today's Red Army is a corrupt shadow of those days, and has been since the fall of the USSR.

Russian military has grown from 500k to 1.4m in the past 24 months. Ukraine has gone from 1.2m to 530k. Ukraine knows Russia only wants four regions, however Russia is fully planning for a force of 2.1m and 1.5m in Ukraine by 2026. Ukraine recruits 39k a month and loses 60k. Russia recruits 300k every 6 months, sometimes more.

Ukraine started this year {2024} on the brink of disaster. A lot has changed since.

All with the Biden admin handicapping Ukraine by not allowing it to attack Russian military airfields and bases in Russia with ATACMS

With the Biden admin slow dripping weapons shipments that were already approved by Congress. US congress in April approved $7.8 direct weapons aid. The Biden admin has only used $1.8 billion, to transfer weapons, with $6 billion due to expire unused at the end of September.

The Kursk incursion could turn out to be a big mistake for Ukraine. Resupplying their troops in the area will get harder as Russia moves more assets into the area. The Russians are still advancing in the East. They are gaining ground much faster than they were before the Kursk invasion. If Ukraine wanted to force Russia to move troops from the Eastern front to Kursk they failed. If they get driven out of Kursk in a month or two and suffer heavy casualties it will be a huge failure. The outcome is still unknown.

We all know your wife’s boyfriend supports Ukraine, it was one of those “open secrets”, like your marriage.

“””Russia is fully planning for a force of 2.1m and 1.5m in Ukraine by 2026”””

If “Ukraine on the other hand will be finished by the end of Summer” and “July marked the end of the AFU” and “Ukraine will collaspe militarily before winter” then why would Russia need 1.5 million troops in Ukraine in 2026, with 600,000 more in reserve?

Why are you so proudly stating that your wife’s boyfriend supports Ukraine?

Are you really so proud of your wife having a boyfriend? Weird.

I was thinking of asking on one of these threads what everyone thought about Odessa.

I know that almost all of us assumed that Odessa was doomed a couple of years ago, but today it seems that opinion has changed.
