While Reagan, Sean McNamara's new movie, has received largely negative reviews from critics, it has beaten box office expectations during its first weekend, ranking No. 4 on the charts.
The Ronald Reagan biopic, which depicts the life of the actor and politician, stars Dennis Quaid as the 40th president and Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan. The film is loosely based on The Crusader: Ronald Reagan and the Fall of Communism, a 2006 book written by Paul Kengor.
Reagan tells the story of its subject from his childhood through his acting career—with a focus on his struggle against communists in Hollywood—and finally to the White House. Much of the narrative is given by actor Jon Voight, who plays a fictional retired KGB officer who holds Reagan responsible for the Soviet Union's collapse.

Second of all, a lady I work with went to see the movie on Saturday. She grew up in the Ukraine during the Soviet Union times. She said the movie touched her heart. She had tons of flashbacks during the movie and after. She's in her '50s.
She also said she can't understand why people are going to vote for Harris because she lived what Harris wants to do to this country and there's nowhere for her to run anymore. I felt bad when she said that.
Must be the money. Why would they release it during an election season? You know it goes against everything Hollywood stands for.
My concern about the movie is having Hollywood put the worst possible light on Reagan.
I went to see Reagan on Sunday. The theater was almost sold out, people clapped at the end of the movie, and no one left until all the credits were done and lights turned on.
No one gives a shi...er...Dorkbama what critics say.
They are all past time their sell by date with respect to intelligence, taste, and honesty.

Gee what a surprise. Let me guess: These “critics” are the same scumbags that pose as “journalists” during the day.
What I have found is that there is a hug lack of education about what “Communism” really is. Very few know when they read the word so they have no associations to comprehend what the word means. I hope some come out more educated after watching this.
You can rest your concern-trolling little heart. It is a very historically accurate movie, and portrays Ronnie as a decent, optimistic, patriotic American.
THANKS.
I think that’s true.
I think for a lot of young people today, “communism” means that the government just gives you lots of stuff for free. It’s pretty awesome. And we could have that right here in the USA if it weren’t for those awful Republicans!
Saw the movie. It seemed very true to history, but they of course left out a lot.
Four of us went to the AMC theater in Leawood, Kansas and watch the movie Sunday evening at 7:45 PM. There was only one empty seat in the theater.
The movie was well done. It’s interesting that it’s gotten rave reviews from people. I’ve seen it but rotten tomatoes gave it a -10.
You needen’t worry about that. Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid wouldn’t be in it if it was to trash Reagan.

That is exactly what they are being trained to believe. And that is why the word and true reality doesn’t affect them at all. Time for uncensored pictures and old film reels. Cause not many of them can read.
They’ve extended it in theaters here in the Knoxville area. We hope to see it this weekend.
I don't think that is a fair comparison to the American situation. To really compare it to our situation, ask her if she would vote for Harris the communist or Trump the Nazi. That is how many people view Trump.
There was a time when a handful of reviews could make or break a movie. NY Times, LA Times, Chicago Sun, Siskel & Ebert. Of course, they panned some decent movies because they were pressured by society. Too violent, drug use, gratuitous nudity and other ills might cost a movie a star or two.
But todays critics have pushed the communist/gay/racist agenda so far, people tend to ignore them completely. I expect Rotten Tomatoes will eventually be pressured to apply an algorithm to adjust user reviews, like google and youtube do.
Hugh, not hug…
The movie was number 4 true. But it was beat by three movies that have been out for some time. One movie that beat Reagan was been out 46 days! But it’s always good to be positive in articles. It did make 7.7 million.
