As the tally of those stricken in a nationwide listeria outbreak tied to recalled Boar's Head deli meat rises, federal health officials are urging Americans to check their refrigerators for the products, some with sell-by dates into October.
The largest such outbreak since one linked to cantaloupes more than a decade ago has killed at least nine people and hospitalized 57 in 18 states, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in an update on Wednesday.
The Sarasota, Florida-based deli meat and cheese company last month expanded its recall to include more than 3,600 tons of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products sold under the Boar's Head and Old Country brands.

Records released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture disclosed unappetizing conditions at the Boar's Head plant in Jarratt, Virginia, where the implicated products were produced. USDA inspectors found mold, mildew and insects throughout the facility, which has suspended operations for now. Links.

Some people are suing Boar's Head after eating the company's products, according to the Associated Press. That includes lifelong liverwurst lover Sue Fleming, 88, who was hospitalized for more than a week with a listeria infection; and Ashley Solberg, who claimed in a lawsuit that she had "nearly lost her unborn child" after contracting the illness.
As the company expands its recall, why would anyone knowingly buy their products until they get it all sorted out?
(We buy only this IGAs own in-house cooked turkey and ham deli meats).

Boar’s Head facing deadly health crises, including listeria, mold, and bugs, after implementing ‘refugee’ work program.
https://revolver.news/.../boars-head-facing-deadly.../
This disturbing news comes right on the heels of Boar’s Head’s DEI “refugee” program, where they hire, train, and “mentor” migrants. Is there a connection? Maybe—after all, the timing is suspicious. How does a company go from being the top dog to the bottom of the barrel so quickly? Well, you start implementing DEI practices, and in no time flat, your company begins to collapse. Just ask Boeing, Bud Light, and Harley Davidson. In other words, get woke, go broke.
Boar’s Head proudly displayed their DEI initiatives on their website, where they bragged about their programs focusing on “refugees.”

illegals or sabatoge ?
I make the food for our three dogs. But I have to make it from products I buy at the store. Still I am not incorporating any rancid cattle or sheep into it. Just rice, ground beef or turkey (depending on the price), green beans, peas and carrots, and pumpkin.
Boar’s Head now knows about the problem and will probably be extra cautious.
I’m allergic to the seaweed in pre=packged processed lunch meats. I buy Kroger’s Private label. NOT ONE BOAR’S HEAD MEAT HAD BEEN REMOVED ON FRIDAY. They occupy the sam deli case.
CHEESE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ORIGINAL RECALL. AND NOT MENTIONED IN THIS ONE. The plant has been shut down for deep cleaning. Are the same illgals going to be doing the cleaning?

Is Boar’s Head trying to commit Boeing DEI suicide?
I cannot even BEGIN to think of how many hundreds and probably thousands of dollars we have spent on this rancid, fetid, dirty, maggot ridden garbage. We thought we were paying the extra money to get a good CLEAN product and we were served third world, garbage dump, insect ridden poison???????
I think a page out of China’s book needs to be taken with this as people DIED as a result of this - drag them to the front of the crowd, read them their crimes, show them the evidence, and then end it.
And, there is NO WAY those at the top couldn’t have known what was happening at the factory. I won’t believe it.
"You allow something like THIS: [Fill in with salient example] to happen at a facility under USDA authority and you're in a heap of trouble. YOU COULD DO TIME IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR IT." Another example that might be given is say, wheat dust on top of an electrical switch box. Points off on inspection...
Or maybe my state's school is just more diligent than some others. Or maybe not. Someone ought to go to prison for this.
And, if one is interested, place your bets on the end game for Boar's Head. One personally hopes they go TU or get bought out, cleaned up for real, and rebranded. Especially considering what they charge for their products... no sympathy.
THIS is why I refuse to buy a certain yoghurt.

We used to count on Boar’s Head too. If Boar’s Head ever recovers, it will be a miracle.
How did these conditions get by USDA inspectors? Is it possible they arose after one inspection and were cleaned up prior to the next. Not likely.
