MD Gov. Wes Moore Apologizes for Falsely Calling Himself a Bronze Star Recipient
Breitbart ^ | 08/30/2024 | Paul Bois

Democrat Maryland Gov. Wes Moore has apologized for falsely labeling himself a Bronze Star recipient on a White House application in 2006.

Though Wes Moore served in the Army Reserve between 1996 and 2014, deploying to Afghanistan between August 2005 and March 2006, winning the National Defense Service Medal, he stated on his 2006 application for a White House fellowship that won a Bronze Star.

He never received such an award.

According to documents obtained by the New York Times, Moore said on his application, “For my work, the 82nd Airborne Division have awarded me the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Action Badge.” The Air Force’s Personnel Center says that the award goes to service members who perform “acts of heroism in ground combat.”

“Why is it that DEMOCRATS hate the military and what it stands for but are so quick to LIE ABOUT and EXAGGERATE their service records????”

That’s an easy one. Because they don’t respect it.

It’s been said that any officer who served in Afghanistan or Iraq received a Bronze Star almost as a party favor. David French, the NYT columnist, a JAG (i.e military lawyer) in Iraq, got one. DeSantis got one.

Military lawyers are officers. So was Wes Moore. That he failed to get a Bronze Star despite his racial quota bump and his officer status suggests he was far, far away from any physical danger.

Bronze Stars, especially with the V device for battlefield valor, can be hard to get. One of my professors who was a Ranger in the Salerno campaign finally got his decades after the fact. His job, to find the enemy and count him, was hairy as heck. His team were few and had no firepower to speak of, so relied on stealth to stay alive or out of captivity.

One of his aides (who wrote the application) will be found dead — an apparent suicide, two shotgun rounds to the head.

As to the lying bastid, how could you make any claim like that? Oh, waitammit, Fauxahontos claimed that she was Indian. OK. It is acommie trash thing.

It depends on how many points he accumulated each year. One year of Reserve service doesn’t necessarily equal one year of active service.

We are chasing our tails on this one.

The Army gave away end of deployment Bronze Stars like they were geedunk ribbons (NDSM). It was so bad that at one point Navy Officers and Chiefs assigned to an Army Command had the Army awarded Bronze Stars downgraded to Commendation medals, unless the Bronze Star was awarded with a Combat V. Not sure if that was an across the board policy or limited to that one deployment. The Sailors were unhappy because the Bronze Star helped them competitively for promotion. The Navy is very strict about awarding Bronze Stars.

In all likelihood he was put in for the award, being an automatic award, it was just assumed he would receive it. That is what his Colonel at the time stated. It was an error, one he should have corrected when it became apparent he did not receive the award. His was a lie by omission. A-Waltz, knowingly lied about being a CSM. Notice they did not discuss the CSM on CNN only the comment on carrying weapons into war. He has no excuse for the CSM lie.

Is it just me or do the RATS like to embellish their military records?

Stolen valor has a term of limitations of seven years, no?

I retired from active duty but also did some Reserves time before the war. If I remember correctly one good year was like 76 points. Before the war, I accepted 6 month active duty orders. For a reservist, that’s a straight 180 points. If you did 20 good years of one weekend a month and two weeks per year, you could retire with I think 1500 points. The points along with rank (and retirement plan) determined the size of your retirement check.

In Waltz’s case, his 24 years including his deployment to Italy would come out to between 2000 and 2500 retirement points as an E8. If active duty used the same point system you would acquire the same amount of points in 6 or 7 years. 18 Reserve years does not necessarily equate to 18 good year's towards retirement. For various legit reasons he could of easily of only had 15 or less good years towards retirement.

Correct for Active its one point, one day. When you are in the Reserves I believe you get 15 pts to start, 2 points for weekends, etc. Reserves are slightly different than Guard. Either way 18 years of Reserve service is not the same as Active (unless you are full time Reserve).

I’m not military, but receiving a Bronze Star is not something I’d think someone would be making a mistake about. It is an out and out LIE.

It isn’t you; the term grates on me as well.

Soldiers “earn” or “are awarded” medals.

It’s not a competition.

Guess which one makes my license plate, lol.

In some States it could be either ... or both, if you have two vehicles.

Rats and careerists. I received an oak leaf cluster on my LOM as a retirement award and didn’t feel like it was appropriate (only a year after my first award) but didn’t want to offend the 2-star who authorized it.

Democrat/Communists lie ... it’s what they do ... and it’s not an occasional thing as with most all politicians and unelected bureaucrats ... it’s innate ... and, in their minds, excusable because, well, they have “good intentions” you understand.
