Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is facing a powerful defamation lawsuit arising from false claims he made about a Republican election volunteer in his 2021 book “Integrity Counts.” He wrote and published that a video presentation of unsupervised ballot counting at State Farm Arena in Atlanta had been “doctored,” “chopped up,” “cut,” “sliced up,” and “deceptively sliced and edited so that it appeared to show the exact opposite of reality,” allegedly including a “slice of video that had removed the clear evidence” that the law had been followed.
None of that was true. Jacki Pick, a Republican volunteer on the Trump legal team, was the sole presenter of the video to Georgia legislators to show that Republican election observers’ claims about unsupervised ballot counting in Georgia’s largest county were true. While she did not show the entire 20 hours of the video in her 12-minute presentation, nothing she showed was edited, chopped up, sliced, or diced, in any way.

Raffensperger’s office downplayed the concerns and repeatedly said nothing was amiss. He and his representatives at first denied that any media or observers had been told operations had stopped for the evening (despite ample evidence they had been told), then they said that no counting took place after observers left, and then they claimed that government monitors had been present the entire time. In early December 2020, Trump attorneys found security footage of the arena that showed those claims were false. The presentation of that security video footage went viral before left-wing censorship outlets were able to suppress the story and falsely claim it had been debunked.

He has worked tirelessly to keep the election fraud of the 2020 election hidden from public view. And that was after opening the door to allow the fraud to happen in the first place.
The media uses his statements to insist any claims of election fraud have been "debunked" without ever explaining how that "debunking" works.
I'm glad he is being sued for his lies. I hope it costs him dearly and that tax-payers aren't forced to cover the bill.

What motivated Raffensperger to cover up election fraud?
Raffensperger cannot at this point come clean and admit that there were irregularities in the vote counting. Too late. He’s stuck with the original stories of denials.

I’m not sure but as I said I suspect it was something along the lines of bribery, blackmail, or extortion. I bet Marc Elias was somewhere involved.
I don’t think Raffensperger thought it would still be an issue four years later. He probably was assured the media and “powers that be” would sweep it under the rug and any discussion about it would disappear pretty quickly. That hasn’t happened evidenced by the fact that it is still in the news daily. He was used to voters taking his word as the truth and not questioning his authoritative statements.
Ratburger is in between a rock and a hard place. At this point, he HAS to keep denying the fraud, but he is looking more and more guilty as he digs in his heels in fighting against transparency and election security.
I would bet Soros has his back. I don't think he's worried.

Raffensperger had access to the same video and should have been familiar with it before he made his claims. Might be fun to go through the entire 20 hours of video in court to prove that election fraud did happen, that R knew it, and thus that he deliberately lied.
R’s claim is analogous to saying that security film of a bank robbery was trickery because the prosecutor only included the holdup itself, without showing 200 hours of regular business that happened before and after the crime.
R’s defense can explain how not including hours of irrelevant video in a short presentation somehow changes the parts where the fraud occurred.
I’m not sure what that have on Raffensperger. But he is either being bribed, blackmailed, or extorted.

They’re all working together to try to stop free and fair elections in Georgia.

It’s already the law for the precinct supervisor to reconcile the number of check-ins, with the number of ballots, and with the number recorded on the tabulator tapes. What they’re scared of is the law states that if there IS an unresolved discrepancy the votes can be hand-counted. See OCGA 21-2-493(b).
Georgia is important for their steal in November. I don’t think they can afford to lose both Pennsylvania and Georgia. And right now, Pennsylvania seems to be moving Trump’s way, given the increase in the number of GOP voters vs. Dem voters.
