Former President Donald Trump suggested he may skip the Sept. 10 presidential debate against Vice President Kamala Harris hosted by ABC News.
In a Truth Social post on Sunday night, Trump said to “Stay tuned” after he laid out the reasons why he may skip the debate, which included Harris turning down debating on other news networks and significant criticism of ABC News’s anchors.
“I watched ABC FAKE NEWS this morning, both lightweight reporter Jonathan Carl’s(K?) ridiculous and biased interview of Tom Cotton (who was fantastic!), and their so-called Panel of Trump Haters, and I ask, why would I do the Debate against Kamala Harris on that network?” he said.
“Why did Harris turn down Fox, NBC, CBS, and even CNN? Stay tuned!!!” he added.
The post comes as Trump and Harris are still slated to debate on Sept. 10 at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It will be moderated by World News Tonight anchor David Muir and ABC News Live Prime anchor Linsey Davis.
Trump previously proposed three debates to Harris, including a Sept. 4 debate hosted by Fox News, a Sept. 10 debate hosted by ABC News, and a Sept. 25 debate hosted by NBC News. Harris agreed to the Sept. 10 debate, while proposing another one in October.
The Sept. 10 debate was a holdover from when President Joe Biden was still the Democratic nominee.
Trump pledged to do an event on Sept. 4 anyway after Harris declined the Fox News debate, which will be a “tele-town hall” with host Sean Hannity.

Interesting.
Trump has a point. Why go on the network wall to wall with Trump hating reporters, when Kamala couldn’t be bothered to. even consider debating on Fox News? Better he realizes this late than never.
Internal polls may be telling Trump he needn’t worry and not to give Commiela a platform for a three on 1 debate.
I humbly suggest that Trump show up at the September 4 debate at Fox News, look around for Kamala and say that she is a no show. Trump should then spend the next 1 hour, 90 minutes, or 120 minutes (however long the Fox debate is suppose to be) answering questions from the moderators. At the end of the Fox debate, then announce that since Harris wasn’t at the September 4 debate, Trump won’t show up at the September 10 debate.
Agree....if she is a no show on the 4th...forget the 10th.
Yes, it’s interesting. Trump scheduled the FOX debate first so that Harris could be the first one record to decline a debate. Trump would probably do a debate, even on ABC, if that was the only option, but he’s in the driver’s seat now that Kamala has already refused to debate him on FOX. What’s she going to do? come out with that “Trump’s afraid.
I’ll meet him anywhere, anytime” B.S.? That bluff has passed its expiration date.
Trump can and should hold out for an interview on one of the other networks. CNN might be the fairest of the lot, judging by Trump’s debate with Biden. And the more public Trump can make the negotiation, the better, because it will only highlight Harris’s unwillingness to engage.
If the polls were bad, Trump will have no choice but to debate.
So I guess it's a good sign.
Trump would debate the “moderators,” while Kamala would read scripted answers with assistance from the moderators.
This is actually an awesome idea.
There is nothing to gain for him to debate the ABC moderators while Kamala hides behind them.
She will then spend the next few weeks talking about Trump! As will the entire MSM
Very good idea. I like that.
Good, it is a setup and if she won’t debate elsewhere then skip ABC
I think Trump’s poll numbers are looking good. But what he might be able to accomplish with a debate is the same thing that he accomplished when he debated Biden. It’s worth remembering that Trump was already starting to develop a wide lead over Biden before the debate. But what the debate accomplished was to make Biden’s incompetence so clear to everyone that no one would believe it if they tried to steal it again.
A total humiliation of Kamala on the debate stage might be able to achieve the same thing - i.e. make it impossible for the Democrats to get away with another steal because no one would believe she legitimately won.
Absolutely not.
There needs to stop being this marching around talking about how a debate makes him look good because she’s a moron blah blah blah.
If he is ahead THERE IS ZERO reason to risk anything happening in a debate that the MSM would jump on, replaying clips over and over. This opponent is not well known. There is no reason to provide her a forum to get better acquainted with the electorate.
STOP LOOKING TO BE ENTERTAINED. This is about winning. Nothing else. Winning.
Or say he won’t show up then show up.
It might be worth it because the pressure is on Kamala Harris to appear competent. And we know that she's no Hillary Clinton.
As both DJT and RFK have pointed out, being an opposition candidate in a country like ours where the overwhelming portion of the media is aligned with the ruling party is very challenging. Kamala can turn down anything and everything regarding debates/interviews/town halls, and the media will run interference for her and gush about how this cackling, bitchy imbecile is George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Margaret Thatcher and Barack Obama all rolled into one. Trump is basically in the position that the media will scream bloody murder and call him a coward if he turns down anything. It’s a helluva thing.
If I were playing 4-d chess with Harris, I'd be thinking that Trump was setting up a big trap for Kamala here. Hear me out...
Trump should say that the American people already know everything there is to know about Trump, and nothing at all about Harris. Then say that the reason that Harris has nothing to say is that there is nothing there. She's an empty suit that was propped up by the Democrats because they hid the true nature of Joe Biden from the American people, and Harris was front and center in that cover-up.
Trump should finish by saying, "Reject the Democrat scam, reject Harris, and vote to make American great again by electing Donald J. Trump for president!"

I agree.
