ILLINOIS (WMBD) — EYM Chicken Operations and its parent company, Yum, shut down multiple Illinois KFC fast-food locations earlier this week, implementing mass layoffs of its employees statewide.

According to a former maintenance employee who worked at several central Illinois KFC restaurants, his director of operations called him on Aug. 6 to notify him of his termination. The employee said he was vacationing in Tennessee when he received the call.

He requested a formal notification via email from his director and received an email that outlined the circumstances surrounding the sudden departure shortly after.

He said the company eliminated his position effective immediately and he felt “treated as though he did something wrong.”

On Monday, four KFC fast-food locations in Illinois, including those where the maintenance employee worked, abruptly closed Monday morning, according to former restaurant employees.

Fast food has gotten expensive, coupled with higher unemployment, Look for many more closings of all kinds of businesses and many more unemployed.
As the market shrinks.

I used to be willing to drive quite a distance for a KFC. Then I noticed that the ones I’d been going to had changed ownership. Then the food began changing. It was no longer fresh and hot, but dry and stale. So I stopped going as I haven’t found one that I currently trust. So I guess I’ve contributed to their downturn in my own tiny little way.

Under Federal law, they have to give 60 days notice if letting large numbers of people go. However, they can just pay 60 days severance if they prefer.

Like most fast food restaurants, they are just one of many acquisitions by large conglomerates.

KFC used to be so much better when the Colonel was around.

They should sell the coating in the supermarkets, but the one they originally had that was so much better.

Maybe they could make a profit that way?

Yep, the Harris/Biden economics at work. However, these people will continue to vote for the Democrats.

“Fast food has gotten expensive”

Keeps getting worse. At a local bakery, I spotted a $17 turkey sandwich a couple days ago! It was a BIG sandwich, but still. Most simple pastries are $6 now and fancy things are $9 to $10. I went in to window shop and sniff the aroma, then left.

I can still make a good turkey sandwich at home with turkey, tomato, mashed avocado, shredded carrot, lettuce, pepper-Jack cheese, mayo, mustard, and a Chipotle / Black Cherry “dipping sauce” for under $3.
