British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch is missing after the sinking of a superyacht off the coast of Sicily, sources familiar with the matter told CNBC.
The sources, who preferred not to be named due to the sensitivity of the situation, said that Angela Bacares, Lynch’s wife, was confirmed as having been rescued.
The superyacht, called the Bayesian, capsized at around 5 a.m. local time while anchored off the coast of Porticello, a small fishing village located in the province of Palermo in Italy, according to various media reports. The vessel was reportedly struck by an unexpectedly violent storm.
At least one man has died and six others were reported missing, while 15 people were rescued including a 1-year-old baby, NBC News reported, citing local officials.
The yacht “suddenly sank” most likely “due to the terrible weather conditions,” the City Council of Bagheria said, according to NBC.

A family from Washington State with three little boys sailed around the world in a small sailboat "Bagheera". Liza Copeland wrote 2-3 books about their experiences.
They did have some close calls!

Hardly a Super Yacht.
This is Super Yacht
This guy who is probably dead was called the Bill Gates of the UK. Had he not gone "cheap" with his Super Yacht he would still be alive.

Our family rule.....
Nobody goes into or near any body of water until you can swim safely as an individual. No vests, floaties, or other floatation devices needed.
So, our priority as children was always to get your Red Cross - YMCA Swimmers Badge so you were allowed near the water at our vacation cottage or grandmother's pool. Probably the only thing Red Cross I can advocate.

The photo in the article shows a tiny ship with an outrageously high main mast. Looks like a capsize waiting to happen to me.
