Walz let Minneapolis burn
Washington Times) ^ | August 13, 2024 | Rowan Scarborough

Minnesota Guard report said riot troops ready, not bunch of 'cooks'...

Tim Walz mocked Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who, on May 27, 2020, as his city burned, issued an urgent call to the governor to send in the National Guard. Mr. Walz delayed action by more than 24 hours ... as buildings, including a police precinct, went down.

“I don’t think the mayor knew what he was asking for,” Mr. Walz later said. “We’re going to have massively trained troops? No. You are going to have 19-year-olds who are cooks in some cases. ..

Mr. Walz had to know his spin wasn’t true. He served for 24 years in the National Guard, retiring as a master sergeant, though he told the world that he left at the higher rank of command sergeant major. That’s like a retired Army colonel telling people he was a general.

Walz knew the Minneapolis Guard, with combat air and ground units .. was considered top-notch. He just did not want to send them against left-wing destructors. After all, his wife said in an interview that she opened the window to let in the intoxicating smell of rioting.

...

troops were ready to go on May 26 and the 27 if only the governor had heeded the Minneapolis mayor’s and the police chief’s request instead of waiting. He delayed until the evening of May 28, 2020 — after two days of rioting — sending 100 soldiers when the request was for at least 600 to start. He did not sign a written order until May 29.

...

May 31, more than 7,000 soldiers and airmen were on duty.

...

Think of the damage that could have been prevented had Mr. Walz activated the troops 24 hours early on May 27.

VDH——Harris has memorized the successful MO of Biden’s 2020 ....cough....”victory:”
<><>keep away from the public and journalists, and ration even staged speeches.
<><>replace radical chic with pseudo-centralism like ol’ Joe-from-Scranton-with-a-lunch-pail.
<><>pick a VP who’s a complete idiot to make yourself look good.
<><>appropriate as much as you can from successful conservatives, including Trump.

Kamala is saving the best for last: at the debate she will solemnly intone,
“I will not exploit for political purposes, my opponent’s age and inexperience”

Minnesota is really two states…outstate Minnesota rural and conservative and the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area. They have been roughly equal in voting population until the large influx of Somalis tipped the balance to the Metro. Walz once made the disparaging remark that outstate Minnesota was just “rocks and cows” and is obviously of no account for his leftist policies. Walz was very unpopular after COVID and should have been defeated in his reelection. However the GOP candidates got blindsided by the abortion issue and Walz was re-elected despite loosing in nearly every outstate county. I think some outstate counties may soon join the movement to change state borders and align themselves with the Dakotas.

Affordable cars run on gasoline.

Trump will keep the gasoline pumps working so you can keep working.

Now Tampon Tim gets to be Harris’s insurance policy like she was if elected.

Trump, "he's a weak man's vision of a strong man."

After watching him fight these last few years, including his immediate near death response to getting shot while making a speech, I guess I’m also one of those weak men who sees Trump as a strong man.

I am not a fan of some of his personality traits, but I am impressed by his strength and his willingness to fight for what he believes is right no matter what.

On the plus side, he seems to understand the world and has a better handle on how things work, what to do and what not to do, than any of the other candidates.

Hopefully, he can find a few like-minded souls in DC to help him do what needs to be done. His people picks have not been the best for some reason and that’s a definite minus.

Oh well … you fight with the army you have, I guess, and I will hope for the best once again.

Good. Absent this approach (if not dissolution of the entire Union itself), I don't see how a country so divided, socially and culturally, can avoid serious downstream political violence. Having grown so large (and unfortunately "diverse") the "American Experiment" is now failing.

What is truly needed is to Make America America Again.

Fortunately for both candidates, the entire country is content to totally memory-hole the events of 2020.

Yes, you have that right. That the "average American" today has the attention span of a goldfish is a tremendous boon for anyone seeking elective office.

Had to delay so the wife could inhale enough smoke from burning tires.

I live about 30 miles north of Minneapolis (not far enough) I talked with a National Guard soldier shortly after the riots. He told me that they were not given live ammo when they were sent in. Any guesses who gave that order?

Somehow I don’t think it was Mary Tyler Moore

Megyn Kelly took this head on by showing how the Harris campaign deceptively edited Trump’s phone call to Walz to remove any mention of the number of days it took Walz to respond to the riot:

Trump, of course, was trying to encourage the use of the National Guard against the rioters, so it’s not surprising he praised a Governor he was trying to work with who eventually used it. That doesn’t mean we can’t still criticize Walz’s delay in calling out the Guard or his blaming America for the riots or other questionable things he said at the time about the rioters and the guardsmen.

Thanks for this. Sometimes I forget to assume that videos on Twitter have been edited to remove context.

There are plenty of ways to spot the multitude of wolves populating FR now. They’re first to discredit Trump and dismiss the exposure of flaws of Kamala and Timmy.
