Minnesota is really two states…outstate Minnesota rural and conservative and the Minneapolis/St Paul metro area. They have been roughly equal in voting population until the large influx of Somalis tipped the balance to the Metro. Walz once made the disparaging remark that outstate Minnesota was just “rocks and cows” and is obviously of no account for his leftist policies. Walz was very unpopular after COVID and should have been defeated in his reelection. However the GOP candidates got blindsided by the abortion issue and Walz was re-elected despite loosing in nearly every outstate county. I think some outstate counties may soon join the movement to change state borders and align themselves with the Dakotas.
Good. Absent this approach (if not dissolution of the entire Union itself), I don't see how a country so divided, socially and culturally, can avoid serious downstream political violence. Having grown so large (and unfortunately "diverse") the "American Experiment" is now failing.
What is truly needed is to Make America America Again.
