White House launches broad new regulatory effort, as Harris prepares to unveil economic plan

The Biden Administration on Monday unveiled a new, multi-agency regulatory initiative to target corporate practices that officials claim are designed to waste consumers’ time and needlessly burden them with red tape, in order to maximize profits.

“I think we can all relate to this,” White House domestic policy advisor Neera Tanden told reporters Friday.

“For example, you want to cancel your gym membership or subscription service or newspaper. It took one or two clicks to sign up. But now ... you have to go in person, or wait on hold for 20 minutes ... just to opt out,” she said.

Dubbed the “Time is Money” initiative, the actions will make it easier for consumers to cancel subscriptions, get refunds, submit health care and insurance forms online, and access high-quality customer service.

The new initiative is being launched at a unique moment for the Biden administration. Democratic presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris is preparing to unveil her presidential campaign’s first economic policy plans this week.

Broad efforts like “Time is Money” could serve as opportunities for Harris to carry forward the Biden administration’s longstanding consumer protection mandate in new ways.

these are all excellent ideas, so why weren’t they a priority years ago? ...

oh, yeah, democrats only pretend to give a damn about we peasants a few weeks before each election ... the rest of their time in office is devoted to destruction of our country with grotesque “progressive” ideology ...

The more government stays out of private business...the better. This is NOT a good idea.

Are they going to apply the same rules to the IRS? Billions of dollars for Kafkaesque enforcement, but not one penny for customer service.

They ARE excellent ideas. But, as all things with Fedgov, they’ll go the way of the do-not-call list.

None of this is worth shat if you no longer have any money. Democrats come up with BS like this when it no longer matters and the reason it no longer matters is because they made it that way.

They always have to be sticking their rotten government nose into everything.

Reminds me of when Biden got into the WH, almost on Day 1, he canceled Trumps reduction for the price of insulin that made it cheaper for diabetics.

Then a short while later, Biden lowers the cost again so he can claim he lowered the costs.

This point needs to be talked about when Kamala says she is going to also not tax tips. She and Joe just got done making it harder for people that are paid mostly by tipping.

The RAT Party takes the cake in deception.

CORPORATIONS “waste consumers’ time and needlessly burden them with red tape”?

That’s rich coming from the government. I called a CA state government office last week and the phone tree recording went on for EIGHT MINUTES. Of course, none of the options covered my need.

I know. The VA has been good to me, but trying to make or change an appointment is frustrating to say the least. Trying to actually talk to someone about a problem is a nightmare.

Well, we have a 3.5 year economic plan to reflect on, and she failed.

Some of these things are problems, to be sure. But the solution is NOT to bring government regulations into the mix.

As the great philosopher, Ringo Starr has stated, “Everything the government touches, turns to shit.” [Note to mods, that’s a direct quote to the best of my knowledge].
