President Michael D. Higgins has said there is “no room anymore for anyone to avert their gaze" from Gaza.
His comments come after an Israeli airstrike on a school in Gaza city that had been used to house people displaced by the war.
The attack on the compound housing displaced families (and) killed around 100 people, the Hamas-run Gaza government said, while the Israeli military said it had targeted Hamas militants and cast doubt on the Palestinian death toll.
President Higgins said that airstrike will be “condemned by all those seeking to find peace in what is a continuing horrific violation of human rights". …

Perhaps Ireland should toss its doors open and welcome them to live there. What could go wrong?
That’s in progress.
Unfortunately, all of the “Ireland for the Irish” self-touting “grass roots” politicians are just as antisemitic.
My gaze is averted.
Is Mr. President going to send the Gardai to get me like his comrade to the east?
I looked directly at Gaza as I was headed to my Israeli Defense postings at Hatzerim and Eitlat Naval Base. The people of Gaza are the source of this war, it is their fault, and they are merely suffering the results of bad decision making. Gazans want October 7th to happen repeatedly, according to recent polling.
Let ‘em have it, Israel! They want war, bomb the living holy hell out of them.
Gaze on these sick mo fo rapist baby roasting cold blooded murderers of civilians!
Avert? Hell no! I’m cheering Israel on.
Didn’t Ireland used to be a heavily Catholic country? Now I know being Catholic doesn’t necessarily mean you have to be pro-Israel, but I would think it would at least prevent you from being a cheerleader for an Islamic terrorist state.
Centuries of fighting for independence from Great Britain only to willingly open their doors and hand over the keys to Middle Eastern Muslims. Pathetic.
But it’s okay to turn away from the horrific slaughter done by Hamas in Israel. Got it.
Mr Deasy halted, breathing hard and swallowing his breath.
—I just wanted to say, he said. Ireland, they say, has the honour of being the only country which never persecuted the jews. Do you know that? No. And do you know why?
He frowned sternly on the bright air.
—Why, sir? Stephen asked, beginning to smile.
—Because she never let them in, Mr Deasy said solemnly.
A coughball of laughter leaped from his throat dragging after it a rattling chain of phlegm. He turned back quickly, coughing, laughing, his lifted arms waving to the air.
—She never let them in, he cried again through his laughter as he stamped on gaitered feet over the gravel of the path. That’s why.

From Ulysses published in 1922 with the dialog taking place in 1904.
Funny enough, there are some traditions that hold the man known as Ollamh Fodhla to actually be the Jewish prophet Jeremiah, and that along with certain artifacts from the kingdom of Judah (including Jacob’s pillar stone and possibly the Ark of the Covenant) he brought Tea-Tephi, one of Zedekiah’s daughters, who eventually became the wife of the high king.
If there were more big explosions, I would spend more time watching. I love watching terrorrists go gone.
How about a reality show where some good ole boys go to Gaza with bulldozers and excavators? - I’d watch that. Seabees on the beach with bikini clad female IDF soldiers having shooting contests? I’d watch that too.
Kill Israeli women and children and what you will see is a bright flash and then darkness and then hell.
What a moron. But for the 8th Air Force bombing the hell out of the Nazi’s with 2,000 bombers in a single flight he and his country would be speaking German.
Ireland, once a proud and decent nation, has become just another tawdry little European cesspool...thanks largely to its membership in the European Union. The country that once refused to bow to London is now perfectly willing to kneel at the feet of Germany.
If that’s what you call it. But the fight was only for home rule originally, without secession from the crown; it suddenly became full independence in 1916 when the Marxists used the execution of the leaders of the rebellion as a propaganda talikng point to incite hatred.
Home rule, not independence. Got it.
