U.S. stock futures tumbled Monday as part of a global market sell-off centered around U.S. recession fears. Japan’s Nikkei 225 plunged 12% in its worst day since the 1987 Black Monday crash for Wall Street.

Here’s where U.S. stock market futures stand at the moment:

* Dow Jones Industrial Average futures dropped 633 points or 1.6% following a 611-point loss on Friday.

* S&P 500 futures are down 2.6% after the benchmark lost 1.8% on Friday.

* Nasdaq-100 futures lost 4% as big tech stocks got hit hard in early trading.

The job numbers have seemed realistic to me, but highly misleading.

One of the issues that doesn’t get enough attention is that we have growing numbers of able-bodied adults in this country who don’t work at all. That is an enormous drag on overall productivity and ultimately a drain on the entire nation.

It’s going to be an ugly day. If anyone needs a laugh you should look at the Rfk,jr bear story. I laughed out loud at the insanity if it.. And in a weird twist of fate..the original reporter on the story was jfk granddaughter.

At some point a plunge protection team is going to step in to stop the waterfall..or dems scream loud enough for an emergency rate cut

Fewer and fewer government workers have pensions these days. 401(k) and 503(b) plans are becoming the norm for younger government workers.

Market tanks, unemployment up, recession fears, high inflation...Vote Harris for continuation.

Beware of the “dead cat bounce”. If you’re day-trading, you might want to watch for it, but if you’re not in up to your eyeballs you might watch for it just to see what comes up and what doesn’t.

Yeah, this is my worry, committing too early. But what the hey, we who have parked funds are in an enviable position vs the alternative.

:: the rank-file democrat will care then, especially if they lose their job ::

The rank and file Democrats are now the “protected classes” along with Millennials.
All are taught to depend, solely, on the government.
They care NOT about ‘jobs’ or even work in general.
They may be at the point where losing their job is a benefit to them as they have no problem living on the dole.
They haven’t given up on finding work, they just don’t want to.
And, they are teaching the next generation the same.

“LiveFreeOrDie”? Are you from NH?

Bragging is perhaps the ultimate sin up there.

Look for the reverse “wealth effect” to kick in soon. Consumer spending will likely decline further.

“The job numbers have seemed realistic to me, but highly misleading.”

Over 90% of the jobs created in the past year have been going to foreign nationals. Less than 10% have been going to American citizens. Also, those jobs that are created are mostly part-time jobs. That’s how they have been misrepresenting the numbers.

Who doesn’t love the stock market, right? Can you raise your hand if you love the stock market? Many of us invest in the stock market, right? It’s part of where our money is. [~wild cackling~]

“I would have hoped Trump could bring calm the World markets,”

It seems this loss event has nothing to do with Trump. The timing seems to be tied directly to The Possibility Of Kamala. She’s the turd in the punchbowl.

Like our higher unemployment rate, this also is “Trump’s fault”.

I don’t know what those numbers mean without any context. I don’t get a sense that there are millions of unemployed Americans losing their jobs to immigrants. The non-working adults I have come across in my life tend to fall into two categories: (1) retirees, and (2) unemployable, defective misfits.

we have growing numbers of able-bodied adults in this country who don’t work at all.

We were at the amusement park the other day, some rides closed and limited operational hours due to not enough employees.

I asked my spouse to look around and ask how many of the people around us were actually employable.

"Not many" was the answer
