FReeper Canteen ~ Sunday Chapel ~ AIM HIGH ~ 04 August 2024
The Canteen Crew

AIM HIGH

A college professor prepared a final exam for his students. The test questions were divided into three categories, and the students were instructed to choose questions from only one of the categories. The first category of questions was the hardest and worth fifty points. The second, which was easier, was worth forty points. The third, the simplest, was worth thirty points.

Upon completion of the test, students who had chosen the hardest fifty-point questions were given As.

The students who had chosen the forty-point questions received Bs.

Those who had settled for the easiest thirty-pointers were given Cs.

Some of the students were frustrated with the grading of their papers and asked the professor what he was looking for. The professor leaned over the podium, smiled, and explained, "I wasn’t testing your book knowledge. I was testing your aim".

Robert Kriegel put it this way: "The key is to have a dream that inspires you to go beyond your limits".

“The F-15 was developed to counter the MiG-25 Foxbat, except the Soviets lied about what the Foxbat could do and so Uncle Sam made a jet fighter to beat an imaginary super plane and still won.”

“As a retired Eagle driver who flew the F-15C with the 43rd TFS based, at that time, at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage Alaska, I want to thank you for giving Rodan the tribute she deserves.
The years I spent flying the Eagle passed far too quickly. It was an honor and a privilege to fly the F-15C, and my final flight in her marked the saddest day of my life. I’m sure the F-22 is amazing to fly, but if I were offered the opportunity to serve another tour I would choose the Eagle without a second’s hesitation.”

“As a former F-15 crew chief I can tell you it is a bad ass when it comes to maintenance too. On the F-4 Phantom it would take 5 guys 8 hours just to get an engine out, and that’s even after the removal of 2 missile launchers. When I was in the 8th TFS Black Sheep back in the late 70s we could change an engine in-between daily sorties in about 2.5 hours increasing mission readiness to ridiculous levels. I even got to go on a 5-day cross-country flight in one of four F-15s and had no issues. On one departure my pilot did one of those straight up to 35,000 feet, at 25,000 feet we exceeded the speed of sound. When people ask me what it was like I tell them that it was the most fun I’ve ever had with my clothes on. EagleKeeper 1 out.”

Howdy, Kathy.

It looks like the sun is trying to beat back the clouds to give y’all some sunshine. The day started dreary enough. Still pretty breezy up there.
Have to managed a little down time today?

Howdy, luvie.

How are things down there this weekend? Temps a little more tolerable?

A bit warm and muggy here but not as bad as it’s been.

Hey there, radu!

It was a total furnace until we got a little surprise shower this afternoon that dropped the temperature about 10 degrees. I am a happy camper tonight and so are the kitties.

I’m glad it’s not as bad there, too. I think we’ve both had ENOUGH! LOL!

I discovered this song on youtube today, and I posted it earlier on another thread, but I thought it might be good to post it here too.

It is a new song from the 90-year-old Pat Boone (some of you might remember him).   (The lyrics of this song are very sobering, but this post is not meant to be a downer for anybody, but, rather, a message of hope.)

You got a little rain today? Cool! I didn’t get much time on the computer earlier today so didn’t know there was rain there. Nice to get a little cool-down.

We had more blue sky today than we’ve had in a while. It was pretty but it did up the heat factor a little. Still not too bad though. Looks like we have a dry week ahead and it’ll be on the toasty side. Not extreme at least.

A very pleasant good Sunday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country.

Yesterday at Comanche Lake:

We also had ribs for supper.

How's everyone doing this morning?

At least with it being dry, maybe the humidity will sort of go away. Not like desert dry, but something livable. LOL!

Right now it’s 81, which is so much nicer than it was this time last night. I should be sitting outside, but mosquitoes are still thriving. Why can’t they go away like all the cool bugs did!

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Nice to see “normal” shadows in your pics this time. Looks like it was a bit warm, though, since Gizmo headed for some shade.

It’ll still be steamy enough, like it was today. We have 90s all through the next week, some days in upper 90s, so it’s not going to be comfy.

Champ and my aching back got a break today. I had a few things to do after I woke up, then went to a celebration of life late in the afternoon for a friend who passed away. It was dark when I got home.

It’s 75 at the moment but doesn’t feel that cool at all.

Sounds like next week is going to be a nasty one for you. Totally not comfy. Good thing you got most of the mowing done already.

I’m sorry you lost your friend. That’s never a good thing.

Guess I’d better finish up this show and head out. I’ll hate my alarm in the morning if I don’t go soon. See ya tomorrow!

Good evening, Songcraft, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Oh my....thanks for bringing it here. What a wonderful song by Pat Boone...and at his age.

I’ve played it several times already.

It won’t be as nasty as what we went through a couple of weeks ago but bad enough for a couple of days. The rest will be pretty much typical August. Hot and steamy. Comes with the territory. LOL

No, it sure isn’t a good thing losing a friend. I almost had to choose between two celebrations today because another friend passed away a couple of weeks ago and his celebration was scheduled for today too. But it’s postponed because the host’s wife lost her sister this week. I’ll go to that when it’s rescheduled.

It sux getting old because friends start dropping like flies.

Be kind to your alarm in the morning. :-) Catch ya tomorrow.
