Attorney says parents of ex-student accused in Texas school shooting bear responsibility for attack

The parents of a former Texas high school student accused of killing 10 people during a 2018 shooting on his campus bear responsibility for what happened because they failed to help their son amid a mental health crisis or to limit his access to the family’s guns, an attorney representing victims’ families told jurors this week.

“This shooting was premeditated, it was predictable and it was preventable,” attorney Clint McGuire said during opening statements in the civil trial of a lawsuit seeking to hold Dimitrios Pagourtzis and his parents, Antonios Pagourtzis and Rose Marie Kosmetatos, financially liable for the shooting at Santa Fe High School in May 2018.

I checked to see if this was already posted and didn't see another post. Forgive me if this is a duplicate.

This should happen every time a minor commits a crime.

Far reaching ramifications of the Michigan trial of the school shooter nutjob. Highly controversial.

If parents are responsible...than so are judges who let criminals go ...only for them to commit more crimes.

If the 17 year old was tried as an adult, the parents should be free and clear.

If the 17 year old was tried as a child, then you needed child constraints on the weapons.

Oh BS. If you try to discipline them the CPS will often accuse you of child abuse. I’ve been it time and again. Parents are stuck between Cod and the schools interfering arbitrarily at whim. If you spank a child in some jurisdictions the CPS will swoop inm

If the parents are guilty of the crime, then the conviction is justified.

But there’s no good reason the school shouldn’t also be held accountable.

“This should happen every time a minor commits a crime.”

Then I should be able to do capital punishment on my kid.

I hope you meant Corporal Punishment

Corporal punishment: Punishment which is intended to cause physical pain to a person.

A corporal punishment or a physical punishment is a punishment which is intended to cause physical pain to a person. When it is inflicted on minors, especially in home and school settings, its methods may include spanking or paddling.

capital punishment on the otherhand.....

;)

Yes, capital punishment is rather severe. Quite effective in preventing another infraction, tough.

Right, parents are not allowed to discipline their kids; schools can teach whatever they want and parents have no say in what liberal BS is being taught etc etc. But when something happens, the parents are to blame. That’s the Leftist/communist/democrat way. You may agree with it, I do not.
