Obama Threatened Biden with Removal from Office Under 25th Amendment - Sy Hersh

Biden announced his intention to drop out of the race July 21 and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party's nominee.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Former US President Barack Obama threatened Joe Biden with removal from office under the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution if he did not withdraw from the presidential race, US investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has claimed.

Obama told Biden he had gotten the approval of US Vice President Kamala Harris to invoke the safeguard against presidential incapacity, Hersh said in a blog post on Substack.

The journalist noted that, in accordance with the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, the US president may be removed from power in the event he is judged to no longer be able to carry out his duties, with the vice president stepping into the role.

Hersh claimed that by the time Obama called Biden, it was already clear Harris would receive Democratic leaders' approval to run as the party's candidate.

It says right in the 25th amendment that a previous president can call up a current president and threaten to invoke it.

Not!

Lol.

No. But the VP and one cabinet member can get the ball rolling.

No true investigative journalists remain. On the left you have folks who mindlessly parrot the latest Democrat line. On the right you have bomb-throwers.

But there could be at least one exception to that, Seymour Hersh.

Pretty sure this qualifies as election interference and sedition.

And a bona fide threat to democracy . . .

Which would not have prevented Biden from running again.

And I doubt there were the votes to remove

Odd that he is too whacko to run for president, or to stand trial, but not to have his finger on the nuke button.

I am of the mind that it was a bad idea to have the VP be a key player for invoking the 25th Amendment. The VP is a too interested party, so invoking it may (rightly or wrongly be seen as a political move, making the current VP less likely to actually invoke it.

You are right. It says in the fine print that a former president can cancel a sitting president if he judges it to be in the best interests of the country.

So if Joe is so bad off that Obama was going to invoke the 25th Amendmen because he is too incapacitated to serve, why is Joe still there?

This may or may not be true, but it does indicate a fundamental truth in the White House. And that is Barack Obama is and has been calling the shots.

Naw,

He called up Jill and said that her plan to remove SS from the Trump-event and her cooperation with donor Blackwater would be exposed if he didn’t remove himself from re-election. That’s far more believable based upon timeline.

I never actually thought about it, but you make a good point. Perhaps it should be left to the state governors. If 2/3 of them express a concern, it’s time for the president to call it a day.

But such a method would never fly. Our friends in DC are all about centralized power. No way would they want the states to have a say.

So why didn’t Trump do it. He had good reason!
