Trump Clobbers Kamala Harris With Independents In Head-To-Head Matchup, Rasmussen Poll Reveals
American Action News ^ | 07/27/24

Former President Donald Trump is dominating among Independents in a head-to-head matchup against Vice President Kamala Harris, a poll released Thursday reveals.

Democratic lawmakers, political figures and donors threw their support behind Harris on Sunday following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race. The president released a letter on X stating while his intention was to run for reelection, he believed it was best for the country and his party to focus on the remainder of his term.

In data for independent voters only Trump is showing a 20 point lead over Harris as he holds 53% of the support with Harris at 33%, another candidate option at 9%, and 4% for undecided voters, according to Rasmussen Reports.

The survey, which was conducted on July 22-23, polled 1,074 U.S. likely voters, with a +/-3 margin of error, according to Rasmussen Reports.

“We have done more Harris polling than almost any pollster. So this is no surprise to us. And it’s consistent with our last Biden v Trump poll. She did not improve on Biden,” Rasmussen said in a Thursday post on X.

Independents Only-

Trump: 53% (+20)

Harris: 33%

Someone Else: 9%

Rasmussen’s national poll additionally shows Trump holding a significant lead over Harris, with the former president at 50% of voters support, Harris at 43%, 4% for another candidate and 3% still undecided, data shows.

The new polling comes after Harris confirmed the needed amount of delegates to be considered the party’s presumptive presidential nominee ahead of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in August.

Democratic lawmakers, political figures and donors threw their support behind Harris on Sunday following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race. The president released a letter on X stating while his intention was to run for reelection, he believed it was best for the country and his party to focus on the remainder of his term.

Biden notably endorsed Harris in a second post online, which triggered a wave of support for the vice president.

The move from Biden comes after he received a massive amount of backlash over his debate performance against Trump, in which he could be seen struggling to finish his statements and freezing mid-statement. Despite Republicans calling out the president’s significant amount of gaffes over his term, Democrats and legacy media only began to call concerns for Biden’s mental fitness after the debate.

A post-debate CBS/YouGov poll showed 72% of Americans no longer believe Biden has the mental and cognitive health to serve in office, jumping seven points from a similar survey in early June.

The Harris campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

No one bothers to ask Harris, “What is your agenda..what do you want to do with this country what is your plan?” no one asks her a damn thing its only “WOW the first black woman president” yeah but what is her damn plan!! Do people want no more private insurance, abolishing police, abolishing ICE, one world, open borders, you will get another 50 million illegals into this country..no more social security, it wont survive with that kind of onslaught of people, its unsustainable but you have these brain dead morons who simply dont care, that is what we are up against

Trump needs to agree to do a debate, not doing it makes him look chicken..do the debate, ask Tulsi for advice and go after her for her HORRENDOUS agenda, she didnt change her positions in 3 1/2 yrs

True, we wanted an “in your face” victory.
I’m not that confident it will work out.
I would have preferred a more certain victory.

“I don’t trust Rasmussen’s polling - but it’s true that Independents “should” be disgusted by Heels Up Harris.

True on both counts — Ras is an obvious outlier to the right no matter how much the ostriches don’t want to see it, like that. And everyone who isn’t a complete liberal Kool Aid drinker should be disgusted by the Democrat nominee.

“That’s why I believe Colorado will go to Trump this year. The registered Independents in the state far exceed either the Demonrats or the Republicans.”

Not a chance. Independents far outnumber D’s or R’s in Massachusetts too. Trump isn’t winning there either. Not to mention the fact that however well Ras claims Trump is doing with independents (or anyone else) needs to be taken with a fairly large grain of salt to begin with.

Unless there is a significant change in opinion one way or the other in the next 3 1/2 months, it’s going to come down to the same 6 “swing” states as it did in 2020.

Best case scenario is that the more “undecided” voters see of Kamulatto and the more they get ACCURATE information about her (as if the media will let that happen) then maybe there is a small erosion in her support, but large enough to let Trump get a 2016-style win — though he likely won’t sweep ALL of the swing states as he did that year.

The best Trump can do is a victory in the Electoral College, similar to what he had in 2016.

Kamala Harris may win the popular vote, maybe by 500,000 - 1,000,000.

Den being replaced has NOTHING to do with thr White House. Dems can’t win.

Biden got replaced because he was losing the base. So him being replaced is about motivating the base to turn out to prevent a down ballot massacre nothing. More

This week's polls have certainly been favorable to Harris.

In my aggregate poll model, President Trump's probability of winning fell from last week's high of 91.1% to 85.5%. His probability-weighted average Electoral Vote count fell from 322.5 to 312.3.

Not a chance. Independents far outnumber D’s or R’s in Massachusetts too.

I'm a native of Colorado. Most Independents care a lot about family, while believing the propaganda about general liberal ideas.

These people are definitely not those who support mass illegal immigration, and transexual ideology.

Harris is so far to the left that she has departed the general Demonrat plantation.

Black men detest her. Many black women are now understanding that the influx of illegals is to replace the black vote that had been taken for granted for so many decades.

Young people didn't appreciate Harris calling them stupid.

The demographics on this one are different. Colorado might have enough of its Western roots left to make it happen.

Even parts of the Northeast are shifitng. People may have finally hit their "fed up" point.

Agree. They live in a bubble and cannot imagine everyone in flyover country outside NYC isn’t bright enough to agree with woke socialism and adoring Kamala. We must be hayseeds.

Famous New Yorker satirical cover:

When I saw the famous folk singer Dave Van Ronk in the 1960s the press had said “Van Ronk almost never goes past the Hudson to perform. This tour of folk clubs is a rarity.”

I think there were a lot of them staying in Greenwich Village in those days.

I hope you’re correct about all of that, but nobody is even bothering to poll Colorado as it is normally too much of a lost cause.

And at least for now nowhere else (aside from Rasmussen’s imagination) are independents breaking THAT hard to the right.

FWIW, according to exit polls in 2020 so-called independents in Colorado went for Biden by 15 points.

Very true. There was a deep Trump hatred and a lot of people in the metropolitan areas are dumb as sheep.

However, that was before his senility, and the prospect of Kamala Harris instead.

She is WAY to the left of Biden.

There are also a lot of people ticked off that our Secretary of State kicked Trump off the Republican primary ballot - until the US Supreme Court stepped in and reprimanded her for the complete and utter idiot that she is.

She’s a damn dirty one all right. I’m in a thoroughly corrupt state too (PA) and I don’t trust the vote count in either place to be accurate, especially if it’s close enough to make a difference.

Do you seriously believe that the official results in the 2020 election reflect the reality of how actual, qualified voters cast their legitimate ballots in that election? If so, you braw belong on DU, not here.

I was shocked at some of the people I know, who I thought were on our side, telling me they voted for Biden.
So it’s plausible to me.

"No one has yet posted Rasmussen’s turnout model. Without that, we know nothing."

C'mon, don't be lazy. It's Rasmussen's standard LV with phone and online follow-up.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that, in a two-way matchup, 50% of Likely U.S. Voters would vote for Trump, while 43% would vote for Harris. Four percent (4%) say they’d vote for some other candidate and three percent (3%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Margin of Sampling Error, +/- 2 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence
