The recent surge in migration across the southern border could help slash the federal deficit by nearly $1 trillion over the next decade, according to a recent report by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office.
The CBO estimates the immigration surge will create $1.2 trillion in federal revenue over the next decade, mostly from income taxes and spending by the estimated 8.7 million migrants living in the U.S. during that time. Those same migrants would cost the federal government just $300 billion in health care and other costs, according to the estimate, bringing the net benefit to $900 billion.
The new study builds on an extensive body of research showing immigrants are a boon to the economy, especially at the federal level. Immigrants have federal taxes withheld from their paychecks, and pay sales tax, property tax and more.
But it includes one big caveat: the total doesn’t factor in the costs of border crossings to state and local governments, which in some cases have spent heavily to accommodate the massive influx of asylum seekers.

The CBO has always been way, way off, and has never been nonpartisan.
Like most CBO studies, this one was ordered up with a political slant to assess only the net effect of immigration on federal revenues without taking into account the broader negative effects on the country. The study excluded net increases in federal discretionary spending, and net increases in state and local spending. It also did not consider the ill effects of immigration on wages and income distribution, crime, housing, and social cohesion.

Mexicans working in the USA sent $63 Billion back to Mexico in 2023. Just Mexico. Probably 3x that much total including other nations.
Billions of dollars taken OUT of OUR economy and into theirs. Of course, nothing in comparison to the Trillions of dollars we ship over to China in exchange for cheap goods.

This is so bogus-——the kids arent missing, they are loaned out, passed around to other migrants. to be used in lucrative scams to get tax dollars from S/S and hefty disability checks.

The CBO is clueless about how many illegals get paid in cash construction is one of the largest almost no paper trail at all and they send millions back to their family in their country.
Sending millions out out of the country with no return appears to be a habit of the democrats.
Now top it off with all the free medical and all the other things it’s a no win deal.
Things the democrats do for votes is never a win deal.
