Marines & Kids---OOH RAH!

U.S. Navy Intelligence Specialist 2nd Class Joshua Coats, right, assigned to U.S. Southern Command, supervises a relay race with elementary school kids during Fleet Week Miami at Miami, May 6, 2024. Fleet Weeks are a tradition of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard, where major U.S. cities host Marines, Sailors, and Coast Guardsmen for one week of community-wide events. Fleet Week Miami, in its first year, is an opportunity for residents and visitors to meet with service members, foster community relationships, and view the latest capabilities of today's maritime services. Well Deserved Trip! Thank You, Veterans!

U.S. veterans waiting at a gate to board the Kansas Honor Flight April 29, 2024 at the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, Wichita, Kansas. The Kansas Honor Flight is a non profit organization, which arranges, plans and executes trips to Washington D.C. at no cost for U.S. veterans to visit the memorials of the wars they fought in. Coasties At Work!

A U.S. Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew lowers a hoisting cable to crew members on the flight deck of USCGC Alex Haley (WMEC 39) while underway in the Bering Sea. Once lowered, the crew members attached a fuel hose to conduct an in-flight refueling of the helicopter. (U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class John Hightower).

Please remember that The Canteen is here to support
and entertain our troops and veterans and their families,

After a tour of the Carl Vinson (CVN 70) years ago in Alameda, CA. Our guide asked if there were any questions. I asked if I could get a look at the reactor....Next question?

Howdy, Kathy.

You made it to Hump Day! Is your brain rattled?

Nice to the sun starting to peek out at last. It’s been a bit dreary up there today.
Dreary and damp all day here.

Good evening, radu...how is your grass? Is it drying out or growing at double speed?

Dry all day here, and just now the sun is starting to come out.

Hey there, lightman...we will never forget.

How’s your rain coming along? Getting enough yet? We finally, over a long week, got a bit over 3”.

More would be nice, but I am grateful for this much.

1.4 inches for the entire month...need another half inch to break my previous “record driest” July set way back in 2002.

In spite of it all my zucchini are blossoming and forming finger sized squash.

LOL! The grass is growing double speed. It drizzled all afternoon with a heavier shower just as we were closing things up at the “R” women’s tent. We’ve had rain, in different amounts, every day for the past week and have another week of the same ahead. We needed it but a dry day here and there wouldn’t hurt.

The sun is blazing up there right now. I see some clouds over by the mountains but nary a cloud over the airports.
