I believe you are correct - drive the narrative, get ratings. It was either the 2016 or 2020 election, when McDonnel was running for re-election. FOX News was driving the story that his opponent was neck-in-neck with him in the polls and it was going to be a close race. McDonnell won handily - I think by double-digits. Another time my eyes were opened that the media is dishonest and spouts BS in order for viewers to stay tuned in.
