Donald Trump has picked Ohio senator J.D. Vance as his running mate, choosing a grassroots favorite ahead of more seasoned political operators.
The former president left it until the last possible moment, using all his showman skills to leave the world guessing, before opting for 39-year-old Vance after the Republican National Convention had already begun in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Vance swept to national attention when he published his bestselling memoir 'Hillbilly Elegy,' in 2016, the year Trump was elected president.
He has been a senator for less than two years but has established himself as one of the fiercest defenders of Trump’s 'Make America Great Again' agenda, especially when it comes to foreign policy, trade and immigration.
The former venture capitalist and U.S. Marine had initially been critical of Trump.

Wait, what?
Last minute? I don’t think so.
Have to admit, would’ve been happier with Gov. Sanders or Del. Freitas, but they’re probably too smart to take on such a person-in-waiting job anyway.
Fair enough, now let’s get all the H-1B visa holders back to India and not let any more in. I’ve worked in IT for thirty-five years and I’ve seen the industry close off to White Americans at the expense of Indians and Indian-Americans. Because when Indian-Americans get into management positions, THEY HIRE THEIR OWN AND ONLY THEIR OWN in a way that a White manager cannot. I’ve seen it first-hand. And the DIE bureaucracy in every big company now loves it because it makes their “diversity” stats look great. We don’t need to tie up 200,000 jobs a year to H-1B visaholders. America first.

Because Indian managers, which you are now seeing more and more of especially in IT, shamelessly preferentially hire Indian employees. Indians do not count as “White” in the diversity lottery so hiring them is a Good Thing, as opposed to hiring White men which is a Bad Thing.

The more I read about this guy the less I trust him. Trump better watch his back.
Middle of the road safe pick, probably. I don’t know who else he could’ve gotten that would be ferociously right-wing, but these days, hell, after the past forty years, I’m about to the point where anybody to the left of Augusto Pinochet is a RINO to me.
Fairly minimal name recognition outside of us higher-information voters, but if he stays on the reservation policy-wise, he’ll absolutely clean Kamala’s clock in any sort of debate. Then again that’s a fairly low bar to clear!

That’s cool
[Gen.Blather #18] Now, if he stays in office (If I recall) 18 months and then resigns....[Sacajaweau #37] Yup...i remeber the 18 mo cut off.

Amendment XXIISection 1.
No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. ...
Sure JD will stand up. And he has stood up to oppose Trump and then again to support Trump. He was even against abortion before he was for it.
There is not much JD won’t stand for if the timing is right.
He is Yale graduate married into foreign family making his money in Silicon Valley.
Oh he was a Marine. How did the last Marine, Senator from Ohio, work out?
What I'm suggesting is that the immigration issue is the new "abortion" issue. My bet is that, because of the well-documented illegal immigration disaster that is destroying American cities big and small, the "cultural" issue that abortion has been for unmarried young women will be supplanted by illegal immigration and the street crime against women that cascades from it.
I'm guessing that getting raped by a TurdWorlder--but having easy access to abortion--is not as attractive to young women as not getting raped by a TurdWorlder.
In the past four years, I think we've seen immigration becoming the elephant in the room, and I think it changes everything.
Instead, you got all this common-sense, level-headed, even-handed commentary going on. shocking. /s
Well, the pro-life movement is officially dead in the Republican party.
The VP does not make administration policy.
Vance stated he would not oppose mifepristone, the so-called monring after pill.
In Dobbs, the U.S. Supreme Court returned jurisdiction over abortion to the states. The Federal congress does not have jurisdiction over abortion. Neither does the Executive branch.
Dobbs at 79:
The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives.
Atta way boss!!!! 👍😊👍
I’d say about half the Indians I’ve worked with in DOD contracts don’t know which way is up let alone the “most productive” workers in America.
A little trivia for those interested….
JD Vance’s wife is Indian.🇮🇳 Her name is Usha Chilukuri, The daughter of Indian immigrants, Chilukuri attended Yale University, graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in history, with membership in Phi Beta Kappa. She then attended Cambridge University in England as a Gates Cambridge Scholar, receiving a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in 2010.
In 2013, she earned a juris doctor from Yale Law School, where she was the executive editor of the Yale Law Journal and a member of the Yale Journal of Law & Technology
Even if that didn't happen, they will legalize it in every state.
Can you answer me one question: Explain how abortion is a state issue, then how come gay marriage isn't a state issue? I remember people telling us it was a state issue, then it wasn't. It's only a matter of time until the Supreme Court has an Obergefell for abortion.
People on both sides ignore that Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Roe was, "wrongly decided." So, it hasn't trickled down yet, but the smarter abortion rights people already saw that it should be jettisoned.
I’ve been stating that MMM has been a racist for some time now.
He has hundreds of threads and replies indicating his issues with Haley, Vivek, Tulsi, Kamala etc on the basis of race only.
I -O
I voted for Vance My last Ohio election before moving to NC
Now, if they can just get rid of Sherrod Brown.
