The Secret Service blamed local police for failing to secure the rooftop from which gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump, insisting it was outside of the perimeter the federal agency was tasked with protecting.
Instead, securing and patrolling the factory grounds of AGR International Inc. — located about 130 yards from the stage where Trump was speaking Saturday — was the responsibility of local Pennsylvania police, Secret Service representative Anthony Gugliemi said, according the New York Times.
The Secret Service was only tasked with covering the grounds where Trump’s rally took place, with local police being recruited to assist with those efforts and secure the area outside of the rally.

See if the SS gets locals to cooperate after this. The SS is ultimately responsible for the protection of the protectee and they failed.
Mayne their was one hidden up their. I thought that would be a perfect location for a sniper or two and maybe a few people watching as extra eyes. It looks like the majority of the venue would have been visible from that location. The stage, tents and a few trees likely only obstructed a tiny fraction of the total area.

He succeeded. Well…kind of…unfortunately for the regime….Trump’s guardian angel was present.
I think it was likely more communication and incompetence of the people in charge.
The local agencies had jurisdiction outside the perimeter, including that building. Somehow, he got on the roof and they were aware he was on the roof for at least a few minutes.
However, as best as I can tell the only had people on the ground, making it very hard if not impossible to tell what exactly was going on or get a shot if needed. The USSS had snipers on the roof within the fair grounds.
IMHO, once local PD was aware, the Secret Service, who had the height advantage should have taken the lead, if you will. Why to took so long for a commanding officer to make a decision as to shoot or not as they had snipers on him for some time is rthe real question.

Heh. I posted the following scenario last night:
Maybe the local police thought it was a SS guy on the roof?
“Hey Officer Bob - this guy says there is a guy with a rifle on the roof!”
“Oh? Probably the SS - they have guys on all of these roofs.”
“But Bob - didn’t they say they would just be at the fairground, and that we would be patrolling out here?”
“That’s what we are doing - I didn’t see anybody. I think it is the SS guys. But if you want, I’ll contact them. Do you recall what frequency they are on?”
Looks like the DEI Woman heading up the SS doesn’t have the balls to man up. I hate women like her. They make piss poor leaders.
The eyewitness with the trump visor with fake orange hair even said that he was trying to get the attention of the SS (the guys on the roof I imagine) and pointing that the guy was on the roof. But the witness said he didn't think the SS could see the shooter as he was behind the ridge line of the roof.
I looked on Google Earth - the snipers had about 3 feet more elevation above the shooters roof. More for the sniper that was sitting up. And the other roof was pretty flat. I suppose one could estimate the angles and see when the shooter would be visible to the SS.
It appeared to me that the sniper sitting up was trained on the taller building to the left and beyond the shooters building. Upon hearing the shots he looked up to acquire the new target and adjusted right and down to fire.
If they could see the shooter but couldn't see the rifle, would they take the risk of shooting someone just trying to get a better view? I know warning shots aren't a thing - but maybe if they were questioning assassin/spectator, they shoot the roof 2 feet to the side to see the reaction? That's probably just in the movies.

I was trying to remember that phrasing and find the video I had seen last night but couldn't do it.
Still can't find the video clip I know I saw after going back through every site that I frequent. I recall that when I first saw it it had a very creepy ring to it.
Back when Poppy Smirks was POTUS my Dad was an employee of the local/regional phone company assigned to data circuits repairs. Poppy Smirks came to town and Dad was busy a few days as temporary circuits were put in. Before Poppy Smirks plane touched down the nice gentleman in black suits put him in an equipment room in a building along the motorcade route and told him “Do Not Come Out Unit We Tell You Too”. Finally after Poppy Smirks plane wheels came up after the visit Dad was let out. This was not local LEO this was the SS.

You might pay attention to start with section A, 10 and (b)1, A, B, and C. The only major difference between a sitting president and a past is that the past can waive the protection. If the past doesn’t waive, and for the sitting POTUS it is required and they are in total control of the area up to 1000 yards from the targeted individual. They can’t blame local authority.

And President Trump’s team had been asking for —more— secret service protection and didn’t get it.
I didn’t pay attention to the beard - that looked normal. The orange “hair” is part of the visor. I got a kick out of it.
I don’t believe that for one second. SS don’t bend to the will of locals. If they do, something is terribly wrong. Otherwise, why even bother to have them and their ‘elite force on site?
So the SS has now gone Biden. It is ultimately their job to ensure security. How far they have fallen.
